Im thinking of maining a monk since it can do everything role wise, kicking things in the face is super fun, and having a tank spec all about being drunk is just awesome.
But the class has nothing fun to it. Other than the roles that is.
No buffing people.
No slow fall.
No water walking.
Monk gets nothing fun.
What do you do to deal with this?
Edit: pretty much resolved now. Whatever the solution was i found it as i now main a monk.
You can buff healing received, walk speed and reduce aoe damage to your team around you.
Ring of peace, transcendance, touch of death, paralysis are fun.
The mobility is great with torpedo and tiger lust.
Other fun things is your personal hearth, and you personnal flying cloud which allows mining and fishing from the air (in flying zones)
If we scream louder do you think blizzard will finally give Zen Flight the ability to be used in non flight zones and increase its speed? Itâs time blizzard.
Unfortunately, a bunch of our fun tech got redistributed. Aug took our move speed aura. We used to be able to disarm bosses with weapons, but disarm got turned into a PvP talent. Our giant âraid CDâ got made into BrM only which basically breaks it. We used to have 5% stat and crit buff, but that got sent to the shadow realm.
However, we still have some handy stuff here and there. WW can fly over water with FSK provided it doesnât just automatically aim you into the water. Port is very handy if you pre-plan. We also do the 5% physical damage debuff, but thatâs pretty uninvolved. If anything you end up having to tag like boss or big add #2 on your way to your primary kill target just to debuff it.
Iâm fairly certain Zen Cloudâs speed is the trade for it being insta-cast, which I ABSOLUTELY do not want to give up. That said, Iâve been saying it should have slow fall/levitate in no fly zones for years. Itâll never happen because Monks, but it still should be built in to the ability.
Why does there need to be a trade off? Druids can insta-cast their forms for travel without reduced speeds. Why canât one other class have that as well?
Because i play out in the world not in instances for the most part.
So things like a slow fall for going off cliffs and water travel are not niche to me.
Flying serpent kick over water is more fun than water walking.
Transcendence is more fun than lock port if talented.
Ox kick (pvp talent) is more fun than deathgrip
Tiger palm teleporting out of aoe is more fun than warrior charge.
Throwing kegs as brm is the most satisfying tank animation that exists.
Imagine thinking âwater walkingâ and âslow fallsâ are âfunâ.
Any mount on any class can allow water walking with the mount item. Slow fall isnât an issue if you donât fall off stupid things - as a panda itâs pretty âfunâ to roll off cliffs and not die because of the bouncy racial. We buff people by being near them. Can keep adds off people with ring of peace/stun. Can roll around and go fast. Can do spin kicks and punches. Can life Cocoon random people. Teleport around. Summon a chill healer pet for 12/25 sec. Drinking tea/brews to buff things.
Just try it out. Shouldnt need someone to tell you what is fun about it. You seem interested enough in it with your original statement. Guarantee itâs more fun than priests.
Because thatâs how games like this work? Blizzard at least used to try and keep class abilities special, and Druidsâ travel forms are a special class ability - including their insta-cast flight form. Iâm not saying itâs entirely fair, especially considering how much they steal from classes when they make new classes these days. I mean, Monks used to be the most mobile class, and now even our innate Windwalking buff is a 2 point talent that results in a buff thatâs only 2/5s of what it once was. Blizzard isnât going to basically copy a special ability from a popular class like Druids and give it to Monks. Are you new here?
I mean, Druids even have the Flap ability, which gives their moonkin form the same sort of levitate/slow fall ability that weâve been asking for - including in no fly zones like dungeons/raids. So the code/tech exists in game for what weâve been asking for (I have no idea how hard it would be to implement), yet itâs never happened. Why? Because weâre Monks.
IIRC you still have to buy this from the vendor in the dreamgrove. My partner cant flap on his drood.
I love how instead of them buffing Windwalking from 4% to 10% like we have been asking since the start of the expansion they go and give a 10% group movement bonus to aug vokers. sadness.
They should remove the GCD (or lower the GCD to .5) of Transcendence/Transfer so we can pop it mid fall and teleport back up a bit, thus reducing the fall damage. Would be neat.
They got no problem copying abilities/old spells from monk and giving them to other classes. Verdant Embrace used to be a monk ability back in the day that was removed bc it was to op. The new druid treants is just a reskinned fallen order. Evokers have a stagger mechanic. Seems hypocritical to me.
