You have to buy Zen Cloud, too, so…?
We learn it for free at lvl 30, too, so…? ( the book is useless now )
( not to mention ZF also requires expert riding, flap does not )
Zen Flight should be remade to a slow fall at this point, or at the very least be made to work in Dragonflight areas. It’s an out dated ability.
well
they’re ugly
I think you need to examine what you consider “fun utility.” I, personally, find it fun to apply my utility toolkit in interesting ways.
Consider how many different ways you can use RoP, for example. Sure, you can physically move enemies with it, and help your tank create their dream death ball. But you can also use it to pad out interrupt rotations. It’s not an interrupt, but booping at the end of the cast buys seconds. Same with paralysis. You can juggle very effectively as a single monk. 2 monks? Pray for the caster mobs.
You can also help your tank kite easily in higher keys with RoP. Or buy more time for adds that need to reach another party member. Heavy healing pull with enemies that rush? Pop it on your healer to keep them from being pounced on. They will thank you.
Or…if you’ve a predication toward the more chaotic side of grouping, use RoP to push a spirit TOWARD its focus target. But probably don’t do that in pugs. And only if you know the player will appreciate the joke.
Monk utility is more or less what you decide to make of it. It can be very fun, but it can also be very minimal. Strive to have fun with your utility kit, but also figure out how it plays into your playstyle and why.
I don’t see them ever giving Zen Flight more speed (because druids), but hopefully I’m completely wrong. It would be great to have it work in current content for sure. It was so fun in BFA to flag up and go grief the Hordies in their capital, get knocked off the sides of the pyramids and once combat dropped just ZF back up again. Assuming combat dropped before you hit the ground.
Odd things you find to be “fun”.
I cope with playing hardercore classic era.
The rules are simple. Death = unsub.
truly the hardest of cores.
I main ret paladin and let me tell you, I would give up all of our utility and healing to trade places with monk in this regard.
I basically have to keep my head on a swivel constantly picking up for the healers slack if they fall behind and help with poison debuff and BoP. Would give anything to dump Bop and just be a straight damage dealer who only has to paralyze and drop ring off peace to get mobs into or out of something.
I hadn’t realized that had been changed. That’s, what, the first positive change for Zen Flight since its inception?
Not remade - improved. I use it in flying zones, when I’m running around killing mobs, to get past obstacles. It’s faster than summoning a mount to do it. It’s also great to float into an area, interact with a quest thingy, and then float back out again.
Monk brings more buffs than any other class in the game… if they give them any more there will be riots.
Ring of peace
Transcendence
Paralysis
Tigers lust
What buffs are you referring to?
And things like paralysis, and tigers lust just seem like normal parts of every classes toolkit.
I admit the things i deem “fun” are those that classes i have mained before had.
Right now i dont see a point in ring of peace or transcendence but with more time on the class maybe my thoughts on that will change.
You don’t see the use in RoP? Here are a few examples, one I’ve already given:
-
Pop a RoP on your healer or ranged group during tash packs that focus a target and leap onto them. It’ll bounce them back.
-
Use it on the drummers in Nelths Lair, and the beacon dudes in Court of Stars to keep them from their drums or beacons.
-
Have some fun and throw a focusing spirit at its target.
-
Help your tank kite in higher keys
-
Use it to pad out an interrupt rotation as it’ll cancel the cast, and force the enemy to start it over.
-
Use RoP to help your tank clean up their death ball
Those are off the top of my head. I could make a similar list for transcendence. Monk has a ton of utility, that can be applied in a ton of different situations.
I probably just need a bit (or a lot) more experience with the abilities.
In my head i see it as a way to keep enemies away from you, which seems counter productive when youre playing melee and so need to be close to them.
I dont do mythic + or anything like that so its only mainly in the world or heroic dungeons/ lfr it would come up.
Im sure ill get there in time and stop seeing these things as niche
Ring of peace will also help keep melee attacking mobs off you long enough to gather ore/herbs.
Actually thats perfect!
One thing i loved about playing a warlock is having a pet to tank things while im collecting quest items and stuff.
So thats a perfect use for it!
As others mention you can spec into an ability that increases all party healing recieved by almost 10%. You also have a sap in paralysis, can cleanse poisons and diseases, prevent wipes & help with group skips in dungeons with ring of peace, and have an AOE stun on a very short cooldown. As far as melee utility goes, we aren’t as busted as Ret but our strengths are pretty competitive
When i think about it, the only thing i really use on my warlock is water breathing so im going to look to see if there are potions for that.
Ive already covered slowfall with engineering, so i might have all the stuff i wanted before covered with that, and then just have the monk stuff on top
Play undead, youll cover water breathing
Kul’tirans are better, we hold our breathe longer and swim faster
