How do you build your mog?

Sometimes I try to go with a theme, like “low level npc” or “something that a would wear”. Or I pick a chest piece I want to wear and try to build a set from there. I usually choose my weapon last.

I usually think of a theme, find some shoulders and go from there.

I needed a look that says both “I am the king” and also “I’m down to party.”

I just find a piece that I like and then try to find other pieces that match color wise.

I like your crown

On my DK, I stick with Warrior T3. I just need to get the chest for the full set but I’ve been outbid every time so far. For the rest, I try to find one that fits the race/class.

I’m getting more of a “I partied too hard and stole a crown” vibe.

At the moment, scavenging the sea floor.

I spend a lot of time collecting pieces from far and wide to fill my wardrobe but have zero fashion sense at actually doing anything with my wardrobe.

I end up using the trial of style to throw random outfits together in a few seconds and if I ever win a round, I save the outfit.

Then I just let the outfit get replaced naturally over the course of time until the next event.

Hint of Superhero motif.

Somewhere on the internet, there is a picture of me doing shots while wearing a tiara so yeah I guess you’re more accurate.

I usually start with a tabard and make a set around that.

Lately though, I’ve liked the simple look of a basic guild shirt + pants and shoes. Like this character’s mog. Being able to customize the shirt (since it’s my guild) is a big bonus.

Step 1: Remove shirt

I sometimes have a color palette in mind, but I most often pick a piece I really adore and work from there. Most often this is either the chest or a weapon or, much more rarely, shoulders.

I almost always wear SOMEthing from current content, though BfA has been thin on things I really adore. :frowning: I love the tacky crown from BoD and I love the BfA leather leveling set, though the hat is only good on a worgen because otherwise you get a face covering bandanna with it. (I don’t like to cover my character’s faces and helms are VERY rare for me to use.) I do like the new fin shoulders from EP for leather, but so far the other pieces have been kind of forgettable.

Because of that, my demon hunters are still in their Legion transmogs and my hunter is in a mix of Cata and BC pieces. My mage was in BfA gear – the leveling sets with the feathers because I’m a fan of feathers – but I recently reverted her back to her Legion transmog since I wanted pants instead of a dress.

I wish BfA had provided the overcoats we see all the NPCs wearing in Boralus… And I really wish they would provide more “non-shirts” for demon hunters or other characters with tattoos. The option of hiding the shirt is okay, but not as cool as things like the one shirt design from Legion which was just the remnants of a ripped away shirt, leaving some cloth at the waist and the ends of the sleeves. (See “Chestguard of Insidious Desire” for example. BTW, it must be viewed on a demon hunter to see the ripped look.)

Shoulders
Weapon
Boots
Belt

In general I don’t do much until I get my character geared then try and make something from that. If that doesn’t work I take either an interesting helm, chest piece, or legs and try to find matching gear.

Something I think more people should do, for ToS I ]go in without any saved mogs initially and see what I can come up with in the time limit. It makes the event a lot more fun, but I do save each attempt and build off of it each time to try and improve it. This is my last tabard competition mog.

Every once in a while I’ll find a piece that just screams to me, “You must use this.” Like the blowtorch. I just had to use this blowtorch. Why would an engineer not use a blowtorch?

I just go with the RP theme I have in mind for my character.

In this case, this was the closest I could get to a ex-Silver Covenant Ranger.

Gents: Skimpiest leggings
Ladies: What goes good with the bra?

Depends on what each toon wants… my Gnomes tend to be a bit more fashion conscious. My others do not. Especially the silly Kul’tiran I made for the mount. His outfit is so silly I’ve been playing him.

I tend either to start from legs and look for a chest that fits around it, or vice versa. (The shirt option has opened many doors of late.)

I find it difficult to mog with mail, especially for hunters. I like yours though.
