Title says it all essentially. Between mission tables, covenant dailies, the maw, torghast, running a random dungeon for some anima, I barely have enough time for everything. Just on my main alone. I haven’t even levelled an alt yet, and I love alts.
So what’s the secret?
They don’t waste time with useless things
mission tables take a couple of minutes at most.
covenant dailies are pretty quick, maybe 30 minutes at most including travel time if you have to go to maldraxxus or something.
i don’t do the maw most days.
Torghast takes maybe 45 minutes per run and I’m a slow class.
i don’t bother with random dungeons. this is not an efficient way to get anima.
It takes about 2 days until my main is caught up on Weeklies (and I only play in the evening after kids go to bed), so then I have plenty of time to level alts. I’m about to finish my 3rd 60 soon.
I struggle with Torghast eating up time. It takes me about an hour to do it each day and it’s usually the last thing I do because I like to finish up other things first. But the thing with Torghast is, since its weekly, its not something that needs done every day the entire week so I get that. But even last week when I finished it, the other days I STILL didn’t have time for an alt.

yeah, it takes what it takes. 45 minutes was an average, not saying I’ve never had a run take longer or it always takes that long. just remember the only weeks you have to do more than two runs to max soul ash are the weeks where new layers unlock… and even then you only have to run 4, not 6.
Don’t have a main.
The maw is so bad I don’t do it. Torghast was fun but then the affixes ruined it. Not gonna raid because getting a legendary will be no fun because of Torghast. So that leaves alts for me. Not much else to do and I still like playing.
Typically alt playtime gradually increases over the life of the xpac. I’d expect a jump in alts if they allow the initial maw scenario to be skipped in 9.1 or so.
i got 3 mains to do chores and gear up, i have no time for my alts yet.
I catch my dh up ecery week for renown, otherwise I dont touch him.
Though the way the rio leaderboards look, I may get accepted to more groups if I ran veng dh lol.
Its more about what you want out of the game and your philosophy about it.
Just view it as a diversion to forget lifes woes …its easy because you dont have a set bar…its if this character gets that or unlocks this…cool.
If you are trying to be competitive with other mythic raiders or high m+ players…completely different then you probably can’t get multiple characters highly geared at the same time…unless you are a no lifer…
Get weekly’s done on Tuesday.
Have 6 days a week to level alts.
You have about 2 years or so to get everything done that you want to. There will be content droughts during that time too.
I’m about to finish leveling my fourth character to 60 today so I can get caught up in all the covenant stuff, it honestly takes not much time to do all the things you listed, the most time consuming thing for alts is gearing but when you have a guild to run with its super easy and quick.
Get weekly quest done if it isnt pvp related (I hate pvp so far this xpac)
Get weekly renown done
Get weekly torghast done at level 2 until I have gear for level 3 for each wing for weekly soul ash
Get daily maw done (just 2 quests)
Get mission table done and requeued
Get daily done
Run dungeons until im high enough ilvl to join lfr when it comes out.
Start working on other character.
All this takes roughly 3 days to finish at 2 hours a night for me.
Missions are optional, covenant callings are optional, maw is optional unless you want gem slots, random dungeons? (at this point is optional). So yes, thats why everyone has time.
Only run the mandatory stuff, and all the mandatory stuff is “weekly”.

4 levels of Torghast (3 in one wing to unlock top floor, skip straight to top floor in other wing)
Doing dailies “daily” arent necessary.
Level them and then abandon them. Move on to the next alt rinse and repeat.
Since BFA, I dont have that kind of time.
Legion for whatever reason was easy to get my weapon on half a dozen alts and play the game well enough.
BFA just went overboard enough with all the details that I just quit wanting to play it at all, but especially for alts.
SL appears to have gone a similar route, so I decided to not run alts at all this time. And when Im done for the day on the one character, I guess I’ll go play ESO or something else.
The more time they try to squeeze out of me seems to make me play less.
