How do we feel about the upcoming tuning buffs?

While I’ll happily take %damage increases I feel like Warrior as a whole needs to be looked at a deeper level

We still have arguably the worst utility in the entire game out of any spec. Battleshout and Rallying Cry aren’t anywhere near enough to make any non tank spec desired for content. TBH i’d happily trade these damage buffs at this point for a heroism/bloodlust (why the Warrior doesn’t have this yet is beyond me) or some buffs to already existing utility.

Arms is extremely squishy and it’s very noticeable in M+. I’m usually the first to die to party wide damage, even through our laughable defensives. They need to shift around the HP talent so it doesn’t compete with damage nodes and/or buff our defensives. Both Arms and Fury should honestly just have shield wall at this point

This is more personal opinion but I’m not enjoying the single target rotation of Arms. Too many GCD’s before I can start doing damage and I will never enjoy the meta game of playing around Skullsplitter/bleeds. Skullsplitter should just instantly consume all bleed effects on the target and deal its full damage instead of speeding up the bleeds to iron out some of the jank

All in all, I’m happy with the life raft buffs but beyond a full spec rework I’d like the above changes to be at least considered or discussed internally

While I would love to see some updates to our utility, thats typically something thats reserved for bigger patches (.0 and .5 patches) and not hotfixes. We’ll have to wait until the next major patch (which luckily just hit the PTR encoded!) to see any new functionality added to Warriors.

We need our class tree cleaned up a bit as well so we can take this new utility as well additional survivability (Sanctified Plates for Paladins is a great example in comparison to Endurance Training).

After that I think we can address some additional utility. Ideally, I’d love to see Bloodlust/Heroism, but I’d also like to see the ability to move mobs some way.

Agree to your points. Shockwave possibly should be baseline at this point and/or storm bolt. It’s definitely noticeable with this current affix as well as just the insane amount of stuff that needs to be kicked/crowd controlled
I always laugh when I see Rets that I outgear somehow have more HP than me, even as Fury, all because of that talent you mentioned. It’s very silly

Good tuning. Best we can really hope for outside of a major patch.

I do hope some light utility is looked at. Buff Rally, I’m also in the give us Hero/Lust camp, maybe something else alongside opening up options generally in our class tree.

Looking forward to them. More defensive and utilities would be nice too, but a good damage buff I will gladly take.

At a glance the buffs are great. I’ll let other players better versed in Arms talk about it but here are my preliminary thoughts on the Fury changes.

I like that both Bloodthirst and Bloodbath are getting buffed to keep a balance between AM and RA, it also makes RB less strong overall which is better imo. RB was a bit too strong compared to the rest of Fury’s Kit.

Both the Reap the storm and Thunder Strike buffs help the hero talents a good bit.

Slayer strike buff is good for ST but far less impactful in AOE.

10% Rampage damage increase is great.

The Execute buff is nice but I think it should have been around 15-25% for Fury since currently it’s optimal to only ever press it at 3 stacks of Marked for Execution or to maintain AJ. I’d like to see Execute be used for more than just buff maintenance and BS CDR.

Overall I think it’s a good increase, Thane in particular likes these buffs a ton and I expect it to be the better m+ spec overall instead of it varying per dungeon. Slayer will remain better in raid because of fight timers and it’s burstier nature.

Edit

Hadn’t even considered that the buffs would actually have some negatives with them but this most likely makes OF dead in all forms of content.

It’s the same issue we had previously where all our capstone are kinda really week, but these buffs exacerbate that.

% buffs to colossus abilities won’t make me play the hero spec when demolish is in its current iteration. i thought i made that clear

Uh huh, that’s what they all say

Buff Colo harder. Everyones got a price

They need to buff the size of Colossus, too. It’s not enough. I need to be a giga panda in combat.

yeah 5% is not girthy enough

It is just absurd they messed up so bad they have to do “changes” to our primary damage abilities with numbers between 15 and 25%.

I hope some tuning dev is in the doghouse over this mess. This feels like management finally saw what was going on and went over the head of their subordinate.

Buffs barely put us middle of the pack in any particular category that you can measure a class solely in damage dealing. We still lack any form of utility worth looking for, our St in any fury spec will still be dumpster tier and we’ll still be limited by the hard cap on whirlwind cleave and the more recent soft cap changes to our big burst aoe. First thing that should be done after this is a repeal on the soft target cap changes made in the recent patch, something that will haunt us well past the current tier or even expansion or at least until some point where they try to normalize aoe caps across all classes/specs instead of the current arbitrary differences between each of them.

Buffs for Arms M+ look relatively solid on both Slayer and even moreso for Colossus who’s making out like a bandit.

Regarding Raids even with Colossus now creeping into M raids more this week due to a closer parity between the two builds due to Slayer’ recent tuning from patch, I’d say that difference is probably going to be much closer now. Sims in my gear between the two builds were like 80k diff ST which already wasn’t all that much to begin with, and I’m still missing some huge crit pieces for it (Rash neck/Queen Ring/Dawn ring).

For fury I like the direction it’s heading with it’s buffs, more focus back onto Bloodthirst/Bloodbath is a good way to build up both builds while not forcing an over centralisation of raging blow.

Honestly I mostly find myself in the same spot this only when I’m in between IV’s cooldown, no Reflect/Parry to layer ontop of dstance and second wind isn’t kicking in, or just trusting the healer to press their buttons during groupwide damage when I’m out of options. It’s definitely moreso linked with out lack of health compared to other melee, the fact that our stamina node is a 2 pointer still, let alone competing with mandatory offensive nodes in the 3rd and final rung of the class tree is criminal.

Honestly mate, it aint that bad at all once you get used to it and the fight timings, everything in this game is scripted for the most part even then if you get caught with your pants down mid cast, you can still react and not lose the damage by doing a minimum range heroic leap to both dodge the floor tanking and keep your damage on target.

after all the nonsense nerfing to dps War, this is a good step in the right direction for me as an Arms main. executes specifically have felt underwhelming for a long time for Arms so a direct buff is overdue. I dont mind demolisher, it is would be nice if we could move a small bit while channeling but its fun once you get used to it.
having better talent tree organization so we can take stamina would be an awesome change in the future

Boring but effective

I’m satisfied until the class rework (edit) for utilities and our long overdue bloodlust.

I’m just glad I don’t have to stay gimped in either Fury or Arms now.

Been playing around with Colossus anyway so the buffs to Arms are beyond welcomed.

I think Battle Shout needs more, say 2% haste with attack power, that way all classes benefit from a warrior in the group. Warrior should get Bloodlust, it just screams warrior IMO.

I am thankful for these buffs, but it should have been a hell of a lot sooner. Execute should be buffed some more as well,
