Occasionally I’ll receive in-game gifts without prompt in the launcher that I didn’t want, ask for but mostly don’t feel comfortable accepting & there is no clear way to return these to the sender.
After trying to google the solution most online sources seem to be indicating that Blizzard intentionally makes it as difficult as possible to do this, and doesn’t let the user-side have any control in the matter, meaning these purchases will sit unclaimed forever.
Also please let me know how to opt-out of in-game gifts from players in the future in my account settings, I can’t find the setting on the launcher or website.
Sorry, Babytalk, I’m not aware of any options we have to block someone from sending you a gift.
The only way for a gift to be returned is if the person who purchased it requests and is granted a refund.
Edit: Update: Apparently there had been a change to how our system works and the recipient can request the gift be refunded. Assuming it qualifies for a refund, they should be able to do so. Meaning you likely won’t be able to have any of the older gifts refunded, but anything more recent may be possible.
Can you please go into more detail about the procedure for accomplishing this, information online is sparse regarding this matter & you mentioned its a recent change to the system.
Is the request done via in-game ticket, or a option somewhere in account settings somewhere?
Seeing unclaimed (relatively) expensive “digital” purchases that are essentially going to waste every single time I use the launcher feels bad. I’m sure the senders would just as quickly re-gift the purchases to someone else and Blizzard wouldn’t loose any net balance.
You’d submit a ticket. We have an automated refund system that will scan your account for recent purchases, since this isn’t a purchase you made it likely won’t give you the option there. Just select “I still need help” and describe your issue.
The loss really isn’t a factor, it’s primarily about how our refund policies and procedures work. If it qualifies for a refund we’ll be able to do so, otherwise, the license won’t be able to be moved off of the account. Have you tried talking to the people sending you these gifts? Maybe if they were aware that you don’t want them, they’d stop sending them? Not sure if that is an option for you.
