So there’s been this guild on Burning Legion called {Removed} that has a bot that always creates a level 55 DK and from my experience has some version of the name “{Removed}”. The current iteration seems to be “{Removed}”.
When I first realized it might be a bot, as I play on a lot of characters that doesn’t have a guild and I have a habit to forget to not make use of the “Don’t recruit me”-function that you can set (and this guild, {Removed}, always just sends out a request to join the guild, never any messages and had been doing so for the past month or so), I decided to test it so this is what I did:
I went from one of my characters to another and within’ 30 minutes or so I got a message from this character, still level 55, still in the Scarlet Enclave.
Then I asked a random high level member of the guild whether the GM had any alts online that I could talk to (I checked, no GM online at the time and no obvious names relating to the GM online either). They said no and asked why and I told them about the “player” trying to recruit me on several of my characters, they made the usual “just decline and move on” response until I said that they might be a bot at which point they asked why I was asking them about all of it.
Upon which I told them I wanted to know if the GM knew that they had a bot trying to recruit people or not and thus’ if the guild was promoting it. When no response came back after that I hopped onto a different character of mine to see if the bot would do it again.
Nothing happened for about an hour or so and then when I did a “/who “{Removed}”” the user I suspected to be a bot had gone offline.
So… I dunno, is this how you report an entire guild for promoting/using a bot to recruit for you? Since I’m pretty sure the guild is now aware of the bots existence so I’m pretty sure they are doing it intentionally.
The guild in question is a massive recruitment guild that just cares about inviting members, not who they invite.
So… how do I go about it? Do I do it here? Did I just do it? Help please? ^^’
