How do I mute people

How do I mute people who have their profile hidden?

I tried going to my profile settings and did a search for the perps name and and included all with that name and it still doesnt mute the person.

I guess it depends on what you hope muting that person will accomplish. You’ve gone to the correct page to add them to your muted list, but it sounds like it’s more that you want that person outright ignored?

No… I trying to mute. Is ignored different? I dont know what realm this guy is on because his profile is hidden. How do you mute/ignore hidden posters?

Just hovering over their name should show their realm at the bottom left of your browser.

Yes. Ignoring a user goes one step further and includes their forum posts, in addition to the notifications you receive from them liking/replying to a post of yours or sending you a private message.

When you mouse over his character portrait, a URL should appear in one of the corners of your web browser. For me, Opera puts it in the lower-left. Following the character name in the URL is their realm.

how does ignore work on the forums? I only see mute option in preferences.

It’s right above it.

also why are different posting characters have different trust levels. This paladin and my shaman meirá are on the same account.

lol something bugged

In order for trust level to be account wide at the moment, they would have to rework the forum setup to have us post as our battletags instead of individual characters.

It’s something they’ve been trying to find a workaround for since the launch of the new software.

ok i found i can see the ignore function on this poster jsut not on my shaman.

Currently, Trust Levels are done on a per character basis – attached to the character-realm name specifically.

Making it account-wide is something Blizzard has discussed as wanting to do, but they are having to work on it through this Discourse system. Therefore it has proven to be a little more tricky.

EDITED TO ADD: Please see Mirasol’s explanation below for better clarification of the system.

Not true. It is actually REALLY easy. Far easier than having trust level by character. The Discourse software is designed to work with one login/account name - such as the Bnet account. Every other Blizzard forum uses the Bnet account and trust level is assigned to that name.

Only WoW has the special character modification. If we posted by Btag (with the option to select a char as a flare or avatar type thing) it would resolve the whole thing. Not sure all WoW folks would be comfy using Btag like other Blizz gamers do though.

Basically…only WoW has this issue and it is easily solved by using the default software.
