That isn’t current information. They had revamped the program since then. Last time they asked for applications.
Why pay CM’s when you can have “MVP’s” do it for free
Why?
Gotta be horde, so you have that going for you.
Other reasons, not sure…?
I’ve seen non-MvP people post things that are much more interesting and helpful so…
Everyone can have green around their text!
This isn’t true at all.
Yea…it is their forums after all.
Why? Blizzard made a business choice. Why would people try to tell them how to run their company? Oh, that’s right, because it’s the popular thing to do now.
OH My!! I think the MVP program isn’t and has never been needed? People who are nice and helpful will always be nice and helpful regardless of the color of the text. I think the green text invites attacks on them and as I have seen over the years many of them have fell victim to the trolling and got themselves into trouble by going off the deep end.
You cheater!
I always thought snowfox was pretty cool. They didn’t always defend bliz either, and sometimes really knew how to tell off people around here.
I don’t really understand the draw to become one, It really doesn’t hold much value or meaning.
Speaking for myself, back when the forums nominated you, I felt it was like being trusted with something very important.
Came to realize I wasn’t capable of bearing that gift so I quit the program.
Not sure how it works these days but I do understand the process has somewhat changed.
I mean… We really don’t do what CM’s do… Even the CS/TS MVP’s don’t really do what the CM’s do. They do quite a bit outside of the forums.
I am not sure if it “invites” attacks, before I became an MVP I would get attacked as well in discussions, but people certainly gravitate to attacking the status and I don’t know why. The green text certainly does stand out though.
Things like “Wow, I can’t believe they made you an MVP” and such. I am not sure what they expect when they say stuff like that, honestly it just comes off as if they don’t have anything to really say.
Trolls will be trolls, it happens MVP or not
I mean, aside from one major MVP who I am sure a lot of people know of I can’t think of any that have really gone off the deep end. I think most of the old guard just either quit because of stress or just wandered off.
I think we have only lost 1 of the new generation, Ornyx Era, of MVP’s so far and it was because the program didn’t live up to their personal expectations. They didn’t get out of it what they wanted from my understanding.
/shrug
But I mean, no need doing something that you don’t enjoy/really stresses you out or gets to you.
I had a lot of respect for Snowfox, certainly didn’t always like their responses but they said their mind within CoC and such.
I feel like its a common misconception that MVP’s are just mindless Blizzard shills. We really are not. In fact, when we first joined Ornyx told us to just keep doing what we had been doing really. I know I have had my fair share of disagreeing with Blizzard, I have even gotten pretty heated a few times but I try to keep those moments off of the forums.
When I do disagree with Blizzard I try to be polite and give very detailed feedback on what I disagree with. A good example was my feelings on Warmode and how I think it could be improved.
I personally try to give as much feedback as I can when there is something I dislike to give a better idea on what I as a player want to see moving forward. Saying “This sucks!” or “I hate this” or “Blizzard are big poo poo heads!” does not really tell them much of anything and puts them in a position to guess what the community dislikes. Its always good to be thorough with opinions, but I am drifting off topic now haha.
You know, there is a lot of truth in this statement unfortunately. We are pretty much just normal posters who have been “recognized” by Blizzard as stand out. Its basically a gold star.
The idea was that MVP’s should be trusted because they follow the rules and are usually knowledgeable (which does not mean that we know everything, I have certainly been wrong on things before) so that when an MVP responded on something it should be trustworthy.
I am sure that it comes off as such for some, but there are certainly people who take it as the opposite. You know, guys like our Pandaren friend who equate it to being a mindless shill. There are certainly people out there who direct their anger at Blizzard at us, there are also rare cases where people think we work for Blizzard which could not be further from the truth.
I digress though. There is a lot of misinformation on what MVP’s are and the best trolling is when someone who is upset tries to dictate what I am and what my position entails
Er, there was an Application process for the Ornyx Era of the program. Before leaving Blizzard he had pushed to revive and revitalize the MVP program.
So while the process changed from being a nomination thing where the community nominated people it became a “Apply and we will filter through applicants!” kinda deal.
While I have never really heard of you before this day, I did just look up an old thread of yours–
And I will say, I do agree on one thing. Even today, there is a TON of misconceptions about what the MVP program is, what the MVP’s symbolize, what their role is on the forums, ect.
Wonder where that guy went. MVP here that’s exactly what he asked for and he’s gone.
I want the green text. I’m a DH so it only makes sense my text is fel colored
No!
That green is more druidy than demon-huntery.
So uh… out of curiosity… Which uh… which side am I on?
The druid side?
No!
That green is more druidy than demon-huntery.
Honestly, I feel like the shade of green that our text is is close to the same shade of green used to represent normal hunters.
The druid side?
Nah dude, Druids are Orange…
BECAUSE THEY ARE LEGENDARY!
Honestly, I feel like the shade of green that our text is is close to the same shade of green used to represent normal hunters.
That’s true ;-;
Nah dude, Druids are Orange…
BECAUSE THEY ARE LEGENDARY!
So… Orange text?
So… Orange text?
If only I could make it so my shape shifting friend
Funniest response I’ve seen this morning. +1 for being awesome
Well, you have to be scrupulous, knowledgeable, ethical, and care more about helping other players. You can’t be a troll and your desire to do this shouldn’t be based on the fact that you want green text.
Oof, I’m none of those things.
Oh well, looks like I’m stuck with this.
