How Come Blizz Never does Surveys?

How do they know what we like, and what we do because we want something. For instance. I LOVE Mechagon. great concept! hate gnomes and all but a lot of great mechanics in this zone and would love to see variations of it in future zones. I wish blizz would make surveys for all active subs to participate in to see how we feel about each patch and what we think they did right and wrong.

You are playing and still paying so that is good enough for them. It’s when you cancel is when they start to care.

I do agree though they should be doing surveys for current subscribers.

You must be new here. Blizzard (and their executive masters at Activision) care about money, not games. As long as you’re giving them money, they could care less what you do or what you think. Sadly, this is the state of AAA gaming today.

Probaly, because much like polls, they can be skewed. Especially by the folks who have numerous accounts. Multibox the surveys lol.

Which means it wouldn’t be skewed since sub numbers aren’t about individuals, it’s about… you know, sub numbers.

They do. They just did one about a potential level squish and if that would affect buying character boosts in the future. That was last month.

Yada, yada. Just like the poll the tried over on mmoc back during the flight fiasco. And then some League of legends players posted on it saying how they didn’t even play wow, and did the poll just to troll haha.

Sadly so true…

They’re rich white men. They must know what they’re doing.

Internet surveys are really unreliable, unfortunately. However, if the survey was tied to subscriber accounts it would be a good idea.

Would you trust anything these forums say?

because if the survey results didn’t show what Blizzard was expecting they would disregard it but more likely they would only send out a survey to gauge our reaction on stuff the company wants

after all look at unpopular design changes like CRZ GCDs the constant RNG loot rules no flight and ability pruning for example large numbers of players strongly voiced their disapproval with each one of these and yet Blizzard goes ahead and ignores it all

I think it’s for the same reason focus-testing can be incredibly skewed: people, even anonymously, would rather say what they think is the “correct” or more popular answer, rather than their honest feelings towards something.

Now, while I’m not affiliated with Blizzard, I help my wife with her Youtube Channel (currently up to 22k subscribers, yay!) and we use surveys regularly, so I am well-acquainted with their disadvantages.

When it comes to getting the information you need, especially for a game like WoW, surveys honestly suck.

First, there is the question of audience. Ignoring the possibility of the same person taking the survey multiple times in a row, there are issues with who takes the survey. The most invested people are likely to demand a lot more content than the more casual ones, yet they are by far the most likely to take the survey.

Second, what people say they want is often idealized, free of flaws, especially in contrast to a flawed present. Conversely, what people say they don’t want has all its positives stripped away.

Third, and tied in with the second, people often miss the side effects and consequences of the choices they’re voting for.

Finally, even without deliberately trying to skew the results, each survey will get very different results based on how the question is asked.

Between all of these, although my wife and I use surveys on a regular basis, we know to take the results with heaping helpings of salt, and often find that going in the exact opposite of the survey results is what is best.

I imagine Blizzard has similar concerns.

They just don’t care what we like or think. What ever they think is fun game play is all the matters, if we don’t find it fun they think we are wrong.

They don’t ask because they don’t want player feedback. They want your money, not your opinions.
