Let’s be honest the general population is very stupid and doesn’t know what they want, and they would easily vote against their own interests.

If you think otherwise you clearly do not live in a democratic republic.

I’m of the opinion they just don’t care
 if they did they’d be trying to feel out things long before they became a problem. There’s a major disconnect between publisher and consumer that pervades the entire gaming industry. “You think you do but you really don’t” is the motto many follow.

 So then who gets what they want ?

It’s called “marketing research”. Scientific methods can be used to determine what a company’s customer base wants and is willing to pay for.

It really has nothing to do with asking 3 people what they want, saying “customers don’t know what they want”, and giving them new game “features” they already know people will hate.

Eh I’m not worried, the only time blizzard seems to “listen” to player feedback is if something catastrophic happens to subs like WoD Flying. I mean you don’t go from “It’s coming eventually” to “We didn’t design this world for flying” to “Guess what guys just slog through the entire expansion and you too can unluck flying
 eventually”.

They have had some surveys before, but they were set up to generate “canned” responses to the point of being useless.
