My hope has sailed for Baine, I will be genuinely unironically shocked if he plays any major role or even has his own personal questline in 9.2 or hypothetical 9.3
But Forsaken, nah there’s no way they’d be that reckless

B-But they’re developing Sylvanas! Aren’t you happy?! Isn’t this what you want?!
Forsaken will probably go ignored. Which is hogwash but here we are. Though I think the Forsaken players should, for now, count their blessings. We haven’t gotten any development that would turn them into Calia’s good little boys and girls and that’s a saving grace. They can still cling to what made Forsaken actually interesting for now.
I can’t imagine what would happen to them if Golden got to put more of her focus into them. Since her whole thing was that she couldn’t understand the appeal of Forsaken until she completely rewrote them into what she wanted in Before the Storm.
I mean…there are other examples of blizz being that reckless. cough worgen cough.
So…it’s not looking all that good for forsaken and their fans.
Is it? Or is it risking them doing it via intra-expac novel without any in-game development?
Like I don’t think we can pretend Calia isn’t going to be forced as Forsaken leader, that’s just reckless delusion.
I’m trying to wrack my brains for why Baine is in SL(other than being a token horde character who is an ““inoffensive”” easy to write ““noble savage”” )
Like he got a closure moment with Cairne in the Heritage quests(I think), so unless they want to play out the exact same scene I don’t think he’s here for family business.
If they’re going to give him character development to change him… I frankly don’t see that happening since I don’t think they consider anything wrong with his character.
As for Forsaken, I will not be surprised at all if SL ends and the only thing we get about forsaken is they’re still mummifying in Orgrimmar.
Horde complaints oft get listened to more than Alliance complaints. So if there’s a big enough stink about Calia, and while it’s dying off as of late I think there was, I’d say going largely ignored is probably best case scenario for now. The more time between their current situation as of the end of BfA and the next time they’re in the spotlight the better. Means there’s more time for something to happen that removes the cancer that would plague their development.
I think a race being ignored is only a benefit when the feared alternative is them being ruined. Forsaken already hit rock bottom, and unless something comes up in a later patch to try to tie them back into the plot, they’re losing their only chance to be relevant while also risking denying them any closure for the second time now. Calia doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, either. I’m guessing numbness to her is going to substitute for actual acceptance.
Ah the old “Narratively Starve The Community So A Plate Of Under Developed Crap Is Good”
No…it really doesn’t mean the Cenarion Circle as an organization aided the Alliance.
They did not act on behalf of the organization. They acted on behalf of the alliance and the Kaldorei.
Same would go for horde…etc.
Garona and Voss aiding the horde doesn’t mean the entirety if the Uncrowned were.
Rexxar aiding the Horde doesn’t mean the Unseen Path as an organization was.
Firepaw going to Zandalar with the Horde doesn’t mean the monks organization joined the Horde.
Like…they are just individuals aiding their homes and factions, outside of their other affiliations.
Please stop responding to him, he’s an obsessive troll who craves attention and is only here to start fights. Just ignore him, do not respond.
They mentioned we will discover something big about the Tauren…no clue what that’ll be. I will try to find the quote.
Really now? If you can find that quote it would be amazing!
My general litmus test for SLs here is to get Thrall, Vol’jin, and Baine where they need to be as leaders for the future well being of their respective peoples. So if we get some meaningful Tauren content, maybe Baine was one of two chosen Living Horde reps to be in SLs beyond his need to be an accessory for Anduin. If there any setting to give that big wuss some growth, and a power up to reflect that growth, it would be the land of the dead. Especially since the Bloodhoof RuneSpear has yet to be reforged, in a setting saturated with Runes.
I’m really interested to see what blizz has planned for Thrall and Loa’jin. Though it would be nice to see Baine get out of his Pathetic Alliance side character he’s been stuck in for years now.
Suppose we’ll see if they suprise us
My general problem with Baine is sort of an extension of how Blizz writes Tauren in general. Beyond just being the “Token Good Race”, the poor folks just do not get any real attention. Which results in their primary characters (Baine and Hamuul) sort of being left representing a race that does not have stories to actually represent. Thus, they tend to become pets or accessories for Alliance characters. Anduin and Malf.
Like, Baine has his own set of problems that can start getting addressed in this exact type of setting. Since he’s literally the main rep of the single most spirit worshipping PC race in the game, in the land of the dead. AND he had his own weakness and powerlessness pretty ruthlessly thrown into his face in the Maw. But … truly ask yourself when the last time Hamuul was allowed to do anything that didn’t revolve around Malfurion? I get that Malf is his teacher and they’re both druids, but its sort of shocking to reflect on how lacking in character he is when not locked in Malf’s shadow. Which, when he’s present, he constantly is.
I like this idea a lot because I feel this is what should have happened after Wrath.
The Forsaken should have been that beacon for the now-freed Scourge after the death of Arthas. Who else would understand what it was like to be under the Lich King’s control and then freed?
I mean likewise, the Ebon Blade should’ve been Horde-adjacent same way as Silver Hand is Alliance-adjacent due to thematic lineup
alas
Like imagine if Legion had Alliance in Dalaran but Horde in Archerus but revamped and huge
DK Class Order Hall becomes some revamped ICC instance
You are right CC as an organization did not formally join the Alliance.
Its just that their NE members went to help their home against Horde aggression and the Horde members joined the Horde war effort or went down to Silithus.
So next time when all the members join back in Hyjal every member should not seamlessly join together again and sing kumbaya since these Horde druids are associated with Horde army actions especially the player.
All I ask is a logical reconciliation should we resume the status quo.
We are the ones holding Lordaeron and Quel’thalas. Get over it. Scum.
That certainly would’ve been awesome to see. And I like the idea of the ebon blade turning ICC into their headquarters and the alliance using Dalaran. Though I think the paladins and priests should’ve shared Netherlight Temple
