How can I restore a character if with the same name?

So, my deleted rogue has the same name as my death knight, and I am unable to restore that rogue.

I tried everything the GMs asked me, but still can’t seem to restore the rogue without deleting the DK.

What can I do? Previously the game just prompted you a name change if the name was taken by another character in your account. Both are Lvl 120 and I need the rogue as he has completed the Zandalari quest to unlock said subrace.

Is there any way I can achieve this without renaming my active character, I don’t want to change it’s name.

Not until 30/60 days have passed since the deletion, if I recall recent SFA posts here. The system has been refined to refuse people trying to get free name changes this way, and most of them lose interest by that time.

Nope. This is intended to prevent players from gaming the system in order to get a free name change.

Your only option to achieve your desired outcome is to purchase a paid name change for the existing character, restore the deleted character, then purchase name changes for both.

What a shame really, by the time I can play my rogue again we’d be out of this pandemic.

I’ll admit I don’t personally see the point of deleting a character one might want again someday, especially if they’re a high level.

I’m curious if billing would be able to do this directly - if you’re willing to buy a name change but you want it to be for the currently deleted character.

I decided to delete the DK again, and restore the rogue to continue unlocking the allied races that he had almost unlocked up to now - once that is unlocked I am not sure if I will redelete it to restore my DK, as sub races don’t acquire heritage armor through race changes. Not sure yet, but one single race change sounds simpler and cheaper than multiple name changes.

I didn’t knew the system had been refined this way, it makes saving names a bit more inconvenient.
