It’s an honest question, currently with the way things are and as a person who works a full time job, how can you farm honor? I’m faced with 2 options so far:
-
when i join WSG 80-90% of the time i have to face a horde premade, most of these games end with me getting literally zero honor. usually the way it plays out is the following: i join the game, check the board and realize we are facing a premade with 3 healers while we have 0-1 healers in our team, decide to just charge in to test if we can do anything only to get stomped while not getting a single kill, i realize we won’t get anything out if this game and decide to just ghost so that the horde is encouraged to end it quick.

When joining AV right now horde players are having to deal with really long queues, which means they are encouraged to squish every single bit of honor out of the games they get in, which in turns means they want to drag the games and farm kills until the 30min mark
you can’t ignore the fact the people who play horde are more inclined to pvp. so even if world population is 50% - 50%, which we don’t know, there are more horde players doing pvp than alliance players and they are more experienced too. this means the average horde player is better at pvp than the average alliance player. this is just my opinion but it seems to check out.
so, if i can’t join a WSG premade, how am i supposed to farm honor? do i have to keep queuing to WSG to only get honor from 2/10 games? or am i supposed to queue to AV and just squish some honor out of those kill fest?
none of these options are enjoyable, is pvp supposed to be only for those with enough time to farm honor for 16 hours per day? do blizz want to keep us casuals from playing BGs? do horde players want us out too so they get longer queues?
why can’t they just allow full premades in AV and WSG and make it so they can’t face PUGs? wouldn’t Premade vs premade and pug vs pug be more fair?

You can join a premade team, you are choosing not to.

No. PvP is for anyone who wants to do it (along with a lot of people who don’t want to do it but do it anyway because they want their purples).
Ranking is not for casuals. By the odd quirk, Classic has been easier to rank than Vanilla (off and on), but it’s still not for people playing the game casually.

Pugging BG’s is awesome fun. Random group comps, skill level, experience, level of give-a-sh!t… makes for infinite replayability and crazy adventures. And those who can excel in that kind of random environment are more impressive to me than someone who can join a premade and follow a script.

I just play the game. It looks like I’ll hit Rank 6 next week. It’s not fast, but the ranks are happening.
its the same on the horde side classic wow is a premade meta.

i mean, i want to do pvp, and i want to rank up to a certain point, but the way its working currently makes it really hard to actually do it, because i have to chose to either look for a premade thats willing to take a casual, or deal with the problems i mentioned. and playing just to get stomped with no real chance of doing anything 80% of the time just not enjoyable at all. and pugging is fine, i actually enjoy the WSG games i get that are pug vs pug, but those are very few
I just quit my job… moved out yesterday at the end of the month and am shacking up in mom’s basement. She asked how long… I said “till rank 14.”
I got one of those toilet seat computer chairs and she’s gonna keep a stockpile of grilled cheese sandwiches and monster energy drinks in the fridge next to the PC.
I think I’m probably gonna go to Costco tho and get a box of 5 hr energy shots as well just to be on the safe side…

I just notice just kill them all.
We got to fWGY I was stuck north.
I was like f it recalled I hit 25 horde with aoe they wiped on van shower with over 100 honor per target. Did it 3 more times.
everything ounds good, but have cosco send you the energy shots so you can play all day. Or, if you insist, go on Tuesday during maintenance.

Is your question why can’t Blizzard make it so people who play casually get the same rewards as people who put in more effort? Seems like you already know the answer to that. You get results equal to what you put out.
I would honestly wait awhile before trying to rank.
Right now, you’re competing against the most hardcore rankers of the classic era. Once they get their ranks and stop pvping so much, things will get much easier.
They will stop happening around 8-9 when it requires 40+hr of pvp weekly.
I’m sure you can advance past 8/9 with less hours per week. It’ll just take ages.
Except that you wont, you lose 20% of your ranking points each week. So the higher you get, the more you lose. If you want rank 10, you’ll have to reach bracket 10+ to not lose rank.
Umm no. You spend far far more time ranking in classic than I had to spend ranking in Vanilla.

Yeah I don’t see how that’s true at all. On any crowded server, high end ranking is a min-max competition that I can’t imagine existing in vanilla.
The top 50 standings on my server require at least 12-15 hours a day (for horde). That’s just to get to rank 10.
To get to HWL, the top 10 are basically playing 18+ hours and are doing BGs + WPVP with min-max levels of production.
No no, you cant until people grind less. You only increase in rank if you hit the brackets above that rank. So you have to grind more honor than people in brackets above your rank.
