At the top end, I’m sure that’s true. But no one was “casually” ranking to the top end in either game. But getting this version of AV (and yes, AV premades) right on the heels of P2 has made Classic pretty soft on casuals who want to rank to the mid-levels compared to Vanilla. I expect it’s made it easier for the botters, too.

Join an ally premade, the ally in premade love the system, but the ally outside of it hate it.
Join the ally premades and you will have a better time.
Where do you join these?
If you want to be efficient, premade battlegrounds.
Does it suck? Yep, so does Classic’s honor system, but that’s whatcha gotta deal with.
That depends on how high you are looking to go. If you are going for rank 12+ You join a premade and use 100s of gold worth of consumes per day and farm 12-15 hours of nonstop BGs a day.
If R10 is your goal, you can casually rank to 8-9 then no life for 2 weeks in PuGs.
I will say this… I been going hard for 3 weeks as a PuGer and my journey to R10 is almost over. I can say, without a doubt, that this grind is definitely hurting my health. There is just no way any reasonable person can get R13/14. The honor system is horribly designed and should not have been implemented in classic. I know it wouldn’t be the true classic experience, but people have died from no-lifeing this game.
My recommendation is to just get R10, be happy with the blue set and move on to BWL/ZG. The gear you get in those places is equally as good or better in some cases and only takes a few hours to do per week.
Love how many people ignore the OP’s suggestion about having premades queue only against other premades. Best of all is someone saying the OP wants the same reward for less effort… as if being in a premade against a PuG results in effort for either side - the PuG afk in Ghost and the premade score the flag a quick 3 times.
Frankly, I’ve been on the ally side of premades and it’s about as boring as being on the PuG side of BGs. The only difference is you’re more rewarded for your time (not your effort). But the ‘fun’ of being on a premade absolutely crushing a PuG gets old after about on BG.
PuG should be for PuG. Premade for premade. Not really that crazy of a thought that an organized team would face another organized team. Far too many comments from folks in hear quite happy with Ghosting through WSG and afking AV… that mentality is what breaks the game for casual players - the biggest genre of players in WoW, btw…
