How bad is ret nerf?

You can say goodbye to ret comps as this point. Their dmg was ripped apart and they have sht for healing now. anyone who was hoping to make a push as ret before season end can give that up now.

This. I’m entirely fine if they want to nerf our burst (rofl still didn’t nerf fire mages, congrats you nerfed their dots?) but at least compensate with 5-10% damage increase to our sustain. As it stands right now i sit around 7.5-9k dps if I’m allowed decent uptime. Can pretty much half that against teams with slows, roots, casted CC who use them effectively.

I understand the nerf but what are we going to do about the uptime problem which ret suffers from?
Also, ret were already struggling with damage in PvE (i’m referring to the mythic keystone scene) and now we don’t get anything to compensate for it. Rip.

Not every melee needs 100% uptime, if you give them Charge you just make the game even more homogenized.

I’d have liked to see Ret’s role further developed into the high-utility support DPS they should have been designed to be. Something like “sure, you don’t do as much damage as DH and DKs, but you can remove physical debuffs” or something. I hate the MOBA direction this game has taken, every class has the same toolkit of Builder Spender GapCloser Stun OffensiveCD DefensiveCD.

I agree that not every class need 100% uptime, but ret has the worst uptime out of arguably every class. Also, even if ret has 100% uptime like every melee, there are other class that can put up higher numbers. Our main source of reliable damage is bursting when wings are up.

We already are high-utility support dps. When freedom-pony is down. We’re basically a healing/utility bot. I wouldn’t mind as much if they only nerf wake and executioner, but they also nerf WoG by an additional 20% as well?!? So our only reliable source of healing will probably be flash of light from now on in the meta where there will be necrotic/tank trinkets and classes that has mortal wound…

Also, I like the idea of each class having a role like what you’d said, but we aren’t getting anything beside a buff to consecration and divine storm which is a big wtf?

Oh well, as mad as I might be. I’m just going to make my main toon my alt and reroll.

P.S. Moba suck and are boring nowadays due to bad metas and game direction.

I never saw any ret paladins before this. Won’t see any after that’s for sure.

Probably because they crushed blizzcon though. Blizzard doesn’t realize that because it was ret in the finals doesn’t mean the ladder is full of them.

Oh wait… None in the tourney and not much on the ladder? Nerfs seem warranted lol

Pretty much this. It would be nice to have better utility and a way to get uptime besides blowing both of our mobility spells just to reconnect (freedom/horse). Adding pursuit of justice (15% movement speed for a few seconds after judgement) or adding double freedom to Ret would be a good start.

It really makes no sense to nerf one of our best team utility spells, Word of Glory, while also destroying the one combo of damage that currently makes us viable. Word of Glory is already balanced around charges & cooldown limitations and sacrificing holy power that could be used for damage. Remove sanc, give us back real cleanse (dispel magic) like we had up until Legion and maybe we’ll be useful.

I think ret will be fine. They already have pretty good usefulness as they can freedom, slow and bop but they also have very good single target damage for just tunneling enemies

Prot/Fury is super dumb
Prot/Ele with the new Ele buffs will be really strong

I been playing some Prot/Rogue just global the healer in opener for the most part you can guardian the Rogue so he is immune. Then you got enough off healing and support with Hoj, interrupt, ranged silence etc.

It’s kinda mongo lol. Against Rogue/Mage I just steed the opener so im immune to Poly/Sap it gets the rogue out everytime then just pop everything go mage you get block. Immune the rogue then divine shield kill mage in opener.

Prot just has a lot so a lot can work with it really. It has good burst but bad sustain but it isn’t a sustain dmg meta.

Ret nerfs are very noticeable. Wings is no longer scary as they also stealth nerfed Avenging Might trait (the thing that actually warranted a nerf) by 50% in PvP.

Ultimate Retribution is actually much better than it looks. The cast doesn’t break on damage and needs to be hard interrupted or cc’d to stop it.

Ret is probably the least viable melee class now that PhDk is strong.
