Not sure why you wouldn’t play the most OP Pally spec which is clearly Prot. It can literally do everything Holy/Ret can do and some things better.

Prot pally was broken before the huge buffs in 8.1. Now good luck killing any comp with one in it.

I dont see Ret being any good after this patch. 25% nerf to your core abilities is incredibly harsh.

Also, those changes were so last second that I don’t believe they were tested on the PTR. Pretty sure nobody actually played on the PTR with the new changes.

No one understands the Prot pally healing change. They already had so many tools and can immune Poly/CC now you literally can’t kill someone with a Prot there with the hand of protector changes. It’s gonna be stupid broken lol.

Also, Holy did end up losing the double Sacrifice. Healing output got buffed pretty good but you have 1 less panic button to press as Holy.

Dude that is great and needed! However it’s still a buff! I am glad they added that because it was going to be super retarded if they didn’t.

They changed Hand of protector to be based on “YOUR” missing HP not the Prot’s.

So you tell me 200% increased healing based on missing HP is a massive buff. So you can nerf it by 40% lol it’s still a buff :rofl::rofl:

Rets will just die that much easier now with the WoG nerf. Also they are trying to take away our one way to do big burst damage. Someone at blizzard really hates Ret I’m certain of it. We needed buffs, not nerfs.

I think they just needed to leave the spec alone and not change it. Nerfing it imo was a bad call. Especially by that crazy margin. No idea where that even came from.

No need for name calling, I was just pointing out that it’s not going to be as absurd as you think it is. Granted I think prot healing was pretty gross before, but the nerf they gave it now was warranted after the change they made to it.

From my understanding RET is now dead. The -25% damage nerfs to the core abilitys, combined with the -40% nerf to the core heal are just too overwhelming to be still be viable. Without any compensatory buffs, and with no damage nerfs to other classes, RET will most likely be the worst pvp class in the game.

Ok true no need to name call but Prot pally healing is super broken. The change they made was crazy. The 40% nerf doesn’t change much and it’s because of how it is used.

Before being based on Prot’s HP if the Prot was low he could full heal a team mate cause of the 200%. Which meant you would want to ignore the Prot to nerf his healing to team mates. Now you can’t do that. That heal is stronger based of team mates missing HP. So if someone is at 10% HP they are going to get a way way bigger heal even with the 40% nerf than currently on live.

This means you have to change your tactics completely to secure a kill. Since it is instant heal and the Prot can just immune poly/cc before casting it. Going to be really tough if played right.

Yeah it seems pretty kneejerk, people are pointing out Avenger’s Might got nerfed stealthily on the PTR too (EU forums), no idea if it’s true yet. Abomb’s right though, might as well just play prot at this point lul.

Meh, putting mine of the shelf for a while. I liked the play style of Ret a lot more than prot. On the other hand, I really love playing my SPriest. Been playing her a lot and after this patch, oh boy…

Prot pally has been fun to play I made an alt to see if it was really broken and it is. However you need to play something broken to compete with other broken specs like fire, sin, boomy, dh etc. Unfortunately the theme of BFA is play what is broken till something else broken emerges.

Not even close to full geared or ideal traits but have been enjoying some Epic BGs

Ya prot’s pretty disgusting lol. Welcome to Beta for Azeroth with our garbage class design and poor gearing system. I might give prot a go after testing out the ret changes, especially if Avenger’s Might did indeed get stealth nerfed on top of everything else. Glad you’re enjoying it though.

Ret needed a nerf to the two-shot combo, but probably needed buffs to sustained damage to compensate.

It’s just funny to be able to counter everything. That is where the enjoyment is compared to other specs. Prot can block all spells which makes Boomkins and Casters laughable. They can block Dots too since it is a spell. I have had Boomkins give up after realizing the Dots they were putting on me was actually dealing damage to them with Holy Shield. That just nullifies most casters being able to block Dots and their big spells like Starsurge, Gpyro etc.

I had wall up fighting melee as a Fire mage was casting Gpyro it did 16k after I blocked it with other mitigation. It’s just pretty OP to block their burst.
