Thinking about giving it a try, but I read that feral and boomer are really not great dps specs. What you think team?
I’ve seen starfire one shot people, so I’m gonna say it’s ok
Moonkin is great at pvp if you play the class and not the spec.
You basically play like a healer that can also burst hard when a window is open.
The issue for moonkin is in arena’s because the playstyle is such that you’re much more of an offensive healer than a dpser that heals sometimes. BG and wpvp is where the class excels and is also a blast (imo).
Boomie is incredible at world PvP. You auto win half your engagements.
Like, say there’s a 60 hunter standing there.
- Pounce, Rake 2pt Rip
- Nature’s Grasp the pet
- Rejuv, Abolish poison (for the obvious Viper) go Boomkin form for 44% armor
- Moonfire, Insect Swarm
- Pop Barkskin for no pushback
- Root the Hunter to stand in deadzone
- Hibernate the pet
- Cast a wrath or two
- Hunter is 100% dead from 5 dots
Warriors can barely touch you. Mages get rolled. Most other druids fall easily. Rogues are free if you get the opener (very tough if they get the opener). Spriest, Enhancement, Warlock are all dicey. You can easily get pooped on by a Spriest.
But yeah, Boomie is fine for world PvP. All the mobility in the world, HoTs and DoTs, two dispels, three forms of CC. It’s a good life.
It’s pretty solid in world pvp.
Being a very mobile and also stealth class gives you a big advantage in wpvp being able to pick and chose when to fight or run away.
Later on you get flight form which is definitely busted for wpvp too.
Wpvp isn’t about fighting fair. Getting the opener on unsuspecting victims will give you an advantage most of the time.
Wpvp pros:
Stealth
Instant flight form
Extremely mobile
Multiple CCs
Heals
Dots
Ranged
Tanky
Cons:
Mana?
Step 1: pop out of stealth and try to oneshot with Starfire+moonfire crits.
Step 2: run away if that fails. Stealth or flight form.
Step 3: repeat until they’re dead.
a boosted boomkin can throw out 2k starfires
Kind of doubt this. Boost gear is pretty Garbo, and big Starfire hits is a little reliant on spell power. My moonkin is in mostly pre molten core spellpower stuff, and 2k is a big hit for me.
Wpvp and BGs I can tell you from experience moonkin is strong. If I get the jump on anyone and have my treants up it’s a guaranteed win. I’ve done plenty of 1v2s in AV recently but a lot of them are boosters in bad gear and probably not too much experience with the class. Will be interesting to see how it is at 70.
PS my Starfires crit for 2.5k with full healing gear (about 400 SP)
As someone else said, boomkin is playing the class, not the spec. Don’t expect to be able to get off a starfire unless you catch someone off guard. Most of your DPS is going to come from moonfire/bugswarm and trying to avoid damage yourself, IE bear form, travel form, healing yourself, etc. Get off a good root, wrath once or twice. Cyclone into a starfire, etc.
No dead zone in TBCC
All classes can be good and bad at WPvP. Just about how you play.
He means melee range
