You’d be wrong. Why do you think Tokens are impossible to get? People sitting on mountains of gold, in game, are turning tokens into Balance Cash, and using that cash to buy the mounts without spending a dime. They are just as smart and figured out not only how to play wow for free, but how to obtain everything in the shop for free. People were just too busy fighting to spot it.
I know. It makes zero sense. Its an optional item. If you HAD to buy it or you lost access to the game or something Id 100% get it. But its a simple dont want it? dont buy it?
The only reason I can come up with is they are mad because they want it but can afford it. So they pretend they are sitting on some moral high ground by not getting it all the while complaining in the most melodramatic way possible
remember? 2/3 of wow players didn’t even able to purchase early access…
this is twice higher price than early access lol
No one bought early access. Why do people keep wording it like that?
That was a simple perk. A LOT more stuff came with the Epic edition. Including a month of game time. That takes $15 off the price of the epic edition right there
then buy it whats the problem??
this is just AH mount dont feel special from this lol
Yea, I’m gonna stop right there…
Not upset at all. It costs over $15 to see a 2-hour movie in theaters. It costs about that much to buy McDonald’s. The best Fortnite skins are $20. A mount with an AH and mailbox that will be useful for the entire rest of my time on this game for $90 is acceptable, especially considering the original one was around $600 USD worth of tokens.
make this very simple for people. you have 2 choices.
- make the game better with more engaging content to attract new and returning players to stay engaged paying monthy subs/buying expansions.
- make bare minimum content to keep a decent player base, then pay 1 person or a small team very little to make exclusive cash shop items that rake in more by cost comparison.
which would anyone choose to do if the market allowed? obviously number 2 and people who buy this incentivize this practice over making more/better content.
So if you ever are sitting there saying boy I wish there was more to do and you gave in to this, then log in and stare at it for a few hours, because this is the content you asked for.
I’m just concerned at the incredible number of people who don’t understand the concept of Prince Anchoring and their sole justification for 90 bucks being fine is because the original caravan bruto cost so much more. But I suppose marketing tactics like that are so prevalent because they’re so effective on your average consumer.
Blizzard would have done this regardless. It’s always easier for a company to make reskinned mount than crank out new content. Blizzard could have put the mount up for gold only, and players would still buy it. Only there would be less complaining from “real” WoW gamers because for some reason buying a mount with gold is for hardcore WoW gamers who love this game and buying a $90 mount is for idiots.
The Celestial Steed sold for $25 in 2010, the inflation-adjusted price of which is around $36. A $36 mount that gives you nothing else vs. a reskinned FOMO mount with an AH and mailbox… $90 sounds fine.
whether they would have done it or not isnt the point. All companies try things to make money and whatever works best they do.
The point is people are ok with this, then will inevitably complain of “lack of content”
Well its our own fault for making this successful because people cant control themselves.
If it flopped and nobody bought it stuff like this would instead be integrated into the game as obtainable content through perhaps story missions or other methods of content adding value to the game as a whole.
Rather instead its a quick cash grab for 0 extra content we get to have.
If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. Multiple $20 mounts, or a gold-only mount, or more stuff on the Trading Post. It’s always going to be this way. Companies will always and forever prefer to spend fewer resources on cheaper products, like reskins and store items. If not that, then low-effort quests. If not those, then low-effort environmental details. It’s so thoroughly and utterly human that there are entire university degrees based on consumer psychology and behavior. Human nature to the point that the market forces behind these decisions are considered impersonal forces, to the point that complaining about it is unconstructive. Personally, I dislike the Trading Post for the most part, but I’m kidding myself if I think most others’ aren’t going to love it (i.e. value it). It is what it is.
If you don’t like something about the product, the best antidote is to not buy the product. Stop playing. It’s not consumers’ fault for behaving like consumers (purchasing a product that they value at a price they are willing to pay), but it’s your fault for subbing to something that doesn’t align with your own values, because only you can control your own responses. As for me, I like the mount. My own personal AH and mailbox save me a lot of time, and time is something I value. A lot more than “more content” delivered on an inappropriately fast timetable that players are going to complain about anyway because it was rushed.
It is funny how all those complaints fell by the wayside. Almost appears to have been by design.
Understandable, the culprit of having gold that requires gold sinks are people buying tokens enmasse or RMT type players.
People in my guild are talking about buying 10 tokens if the gold price jumps to 500k for example.
I am still waiting on my stuff to be returned from the great guild bank robbery.
Sure some are. Not all. Not even a majority imo.
Enjoy your slop.
I’m going to sound pretentious saying this, but I probably have your yearly income just sitting in my checkings account (yeah I know “pUt It iN a HySa”). $90 in the grand scheme isn’t a lot of money. I am angry, because the cash shop is looking like a F2P cash grab Korean MMO instead of a game that we pay a sub for.
90 bucks is a bit of cash for many…I get that.
But there wasnt anywhere near the whining before when you had to buy $500 in tokens to buy an inferior version, so I cant take it whining seriously at all when its 90 bucks.
I think the hate in here is more about all the money going directly to blizzard instead of some of it being used for AH goblins to play the game for free thru the token.
- and a PC to play the game
- and internet to play the game
- and electricity to play the game
$90 isnt much money in the grand scheme of things…AND they have till J6, 25 to buy it…(who in gods name decided on THAT date? lmao).
Plenty of time to get it…MUCH LESS money to buy it regardless…AND its better with a mailbox now…AND it looks better.
over two months to get 90 bucks together. EASY…
but $200 would’ve seemed fair
You really have no self-respect at all, do you?
