After now getting 80 i find it kind of depressing my spells are hitting for the same amount as they did in prepatch back at level 70 and 500 ilvl. Hoping this changes once i get some gear currently only like 540 something
As a long standing Druid player I can Honestly say, Feral has never been in a better position than it is now. We got lots to choose from now for all types of situations.
Yet Despite this it still feels lacking in comparison to other classes.
Itās still super early, and Iāve been mostly questing/delving with my partner who is a monk.
I havenāt been able to test the full limits of feral yet because monks are just 1 shotting everything in the overworld, leaving me with not much to do.
By the time I build up for my finishers, everything is dead.
I am hoping this wont be the case in Mythics and Raid so I can actually see my Dots go through their full durations. Yes there are brutal slash builds that can compensate for Bursty teams, but those builds tend to let the rest of the spec down.
Right now, Iām really trying out fluid form as wellā¦this has always been an issue for me, Shifting on GCD has always been a detriment to the class, especially with todayās pacing of the game, Shifting is freedom of the druid class, why should i have to Shift on GCD when a Death knight can just spam shackles on me and take advantage of that?
its the Shapeshifting fantasy I long for and one blizzard shoud be delivering. While we are seeing implementations of that now, it still feels like it needs a full rework. Not all abilities work, I cant even use my travel form in that fluidity either. and Iāve had to completely swap out my action bars to compensate for its playstyle. (Which had been frustrating to deal with)
EG. My feral stance bar is already full, now i have to have to fit my bear mangle on there somehow.
The class feels much slower and overly clunky, Iām always catching myself out of Melee range, and Starving for energy now, Especially in Druid of the Claw. Iāve also lost the use of moonkin. During dungeon crawls, I would use their disengage chearge and flap quite often to help me traverse dungeons, I can no longer do that, so I feel like some of my mobility and abilities have been taken away from me. I basically had it caked into my playstyle, and now the rug has been pulled from under me.
WE have incredibly large health pools now, and my clear casting regrowth isnt really helping a whole bunch, especially with how squishy we seem to be.
Recently started doing some stuff as dotc feral, gotta say:
The Theme is Right,
- But the Vibes are Off.
I guess I expected Bear form to be more important. Itās the theme Iāve always wanted, a feral that uses ALL of their shapeshifting abilities, reminiscent of WotLK when Druid had both Feral and Guardian under the same spec. But thereās still something about being in bear form as feral or cat form as guardian that just doesnāt deliver.
It feelsā¦ like more of the same old day. The game rewards you to stay in your home form, instead of reaching across the aisle to increase your gameplay. I want a tight window every now and then where Bear form does more damage than Cat as DotC Feral. Can that happen?
Just reading through and thought this may help, as itās helped me:
Predatory Swiftness heals are nice for between abilities if you have extra global space, but the healing is more about sustain ā keep them rolling and donāt use them to heal in emergency. If youāre in a situation where you need emergency healing, Iāve had the best luck with Fluid Form shifting into Bear and using Frenzied Regeneration. I keep it off my bear bar, so I can track the cooldown outside of Bear. You can also take the talent to use in Cat, if that will help. Outside of that, kiting is still really important to mitigate extra dam as a cat.
Using Tigerās Fury into Feral Frenzy gives immediate full combo points and Ravage. This from Rake stun is around 1.5 mil - 4.0 mil damage depending on crits. My gear is not great either, just starting Hc dungeons.
It wonāt ever be like Monk who just spins Rising Sun Kicks for a lot of damage on cooldown, but there is a ton of burst damage available for Feral, that I really didnāt expect. Itās probably a different story for Wildstalker but that did seem to be more of a DoT-focused theme.
The last time I reached out to feel my druid, she was still feathery and lumpyā¦
Iāve all but given up on Druid in PvP ā It is just a worthless class out there.
Not enough damage, not enough survivability, not enough healingā¦ /shrug
Personally I think Druid as a whole will be getting changed in TWW, praying sooner then later, call it copium, wishful thinking, blind faith but I cannot see Druids being like this through a whole expansion and only receiving tuning adjustments.
- Class Tree is horrendous (wasting talents into things that a forced and not even used in the spec we play, yes as a Resto/Balance thank god I have Ironfur ).
- Hero Specs are as great as a kindergartenās first attempt to colour in between the lines (visually dull)
- Survivability is arguably the worst in game.
- We have to waste a talent in Fluid Form essentially to make a few āselectedā abilities work well together for the class/specs (Talenting into QoL ).
- Frenzied Regeneration still requires 2 gcds to actually use a poor excuse of a defensive.
- Removed Adaptive Swarm and Moonkin Form from Resto (Iām still seething from this).
- Undertuned in a lot of aspects over majority of specs (Guardian looking ok so far, letās see how season 1 goes).
- Balance rotation feels like it was designed by someone who never played Balance.
- Balance ramp is ridiculous. Moonfire should just work like Sunfire and be like this class wide.
- Hero Specs should have brought unique forms.
I just canāt see Druids staying like this for a whole expansion. I think Season 1 is going to be a complete wash and hopefully by Season 2 weāll get the changes we desperately need.
I feel very weak, even in open world questing. Weak enough, frankly that I donāt want to play. Itās not been a great start in this expansion, frankly.
Boomkin seriously need a defensive upgrade.
I will be very interested to see how things pan out with the season starting next week.
Balance feels like itās going to just drop dead on higher m+, or stay in bear form so long you might as well replace them with another class that can actually do damage while surviving. And even if you can stay in chicken form the whole timeā¦ the damage is not very impressive. ST is awful, and AOE is just mid.
Resto and Guardian seem better than I thought they would be so far.
Feral I donāt play and donāt care about, sorry ferals.
Feral has some survivability concerns, but not nearly as bad as Balance. Beyond that, feral is looking to be in a pretty good place. The damage on pulls that last more than a few seconds is quite good. Mark of the wild is one of the best, if not the best, buff for keys; any group that doesnāt have a bear or resto druid will probably benefit from a druid DPS more than most other things they could bring as a result.
Iāll give a quick synopsis, having played a decent amount since WW launched.
Feral: Great, Iām currently DotC, havnāt tinkered around with Wildstalker yet. Ravage is a bit RNG but when it procs holy crap does it do damage, and it shows on details as well. Other than that, it is more of the same playstyle. Loving the changes in the class tree, Fluid form, Ursols vortex being way easier to pick up. It would be nice to be able to grab Natureās Vigil but I donāt like the talents before it, so I skip it.
Druid class tree capstone talents still feel kind of weak, though, tbh. If youāre resto, HotW (as resto) is great for the extra damage for kitty weaving or w/e, but any other spec it is not going to be nearly as useful other than a few niche āhelp out the healerā or āhelp out the tankā moments. Well honed instincts is great, but pretty heavily gated behind kitty talents. If you donāt catweave as resto, or you play balance, you are kind of scuffed there. Sort of the same problem with Natureās Vigil, but on the opposite end. It is locked behind caster-centric talents, and if you play Feral or Guardian, you are kind of scuffed there.
Resto- Feels solid, losing moonkin formā¦whyā¦other than that, I havnāt had any problems keeping up the group even with entire hallway pulls in heroic dungeons, so far.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but with the advent of hero stories, Heart of the Wild should be removed, and hero stories should really focus on the āaffinityā functionality instead of a 5 minute cooldown.
The what now?
Hero talents? I may have misread it as hero stories somewhere, but I definitely prefer calling them stories, because it sells the idea that itās a theme and not just another augment.
I would just like to have the melee range and how flying was the last expac. Other than those things Iām liking how feral is going.
Fluid form is amazing but makes keybinds a nightmare lol. Feeling good about Druid so far!
Keybinds?
Just place Shred and Rake at the same places on the bear/no form bar as you do on Ferals and call it a day
ughā¦wellā¦Iām excited for a new expansion BUT in slowing down feral it feels really awful right now. Resto feels okay for dungeons.
Feral slow down feels bad, and now seems to be built around the idea of bleeding and kiting even in ST because weāre squishy.
Honestly; For the first time in a long time, Iām having way more fun on my mage.
Have you tried running DOTC? Iāve found it pretty effective to bleed things up then pool in bear form. Between regrowth, regen, and bark, I havenāt found myself to be too squishy.
Iām running DotC.
