Excited to see new content
Sad about the path Resto is going down at the moment (maybe I can get used to it)
Well, off the bat ( ), flight form is janked as hell right now, soooo -_-
nearly about as excited as i was going from legion to BFA.
Excited for new content but bummed for the class. Nothing new or exciting or looking forward to. Feels like another expansion we lose stuff for, making the class more blah. Still going to main it but it would be cool to see a rework for druid.
all the bits i like in the expansion and changes for druid are all just completely overshadowed by how utterly awful our class tree is in comparison to every other class on objective measurements like # of dead ends and ability to reach more than 1 capstone from a given starting point at the top, as well as certain talents being completely useless for some specs but locking important utility behind those talents so that you have to literally completely waste talent points if you want that utility.
For example, if i want incapacitating roar as a moonchicken, the TWW tree is objectively worse than the prior one, with 2 points completely utterly wasted to get to it.
Iāve been mostly a tourist in this game the past 3 expansions and generally have been having fun with my time. With the hype behind War Within, I was actually a little excited.
And then when Remix dropped, that was just the level of dumb fun I was looking for, and actually made me more enthusiastic about TWW. Maybe this was development shift towards ājust have funā above āgrinding for retentionā.
But then we get pre-patch and the class changes andā¦ This druid is really the only main Iāve ever had, and I canāt even bother to log in to retail. Such minor changes, but itās lost all the fun.
Iām sure the flight-form issues will be fixed, and that will help a little, but the talent choices arenāt fun. What we lost was fun, what we gained doesnāt return it. (Iām probably the one weirdo that likes fluid-form, but I think it needs a little work ā and if itās the reason we lost tireless pursuit, it was definitely not worth it).
I know my views are VERY skewed, as I donāt care about big DPS, or PVP Utility, or being the best at anything. I just want it to feel good and have fun. So, my vibes: very meh, probably wonāt even visit until at least flight-form is fixed.
- Bear is mehā¦ Its one of the better tank but tanks got hit pretty hard. Favored of Elune seems fun but Druid of the claw needs a massive overhaul. With the tank design philosophy it wonāt work well in M+ unless they over tune it. Not sure its good for a hero tree to only be good at raiding and even there again its going to be tough tuning cat for damage.
- Feral is still well an over complicated mess.
- Resto looks decent (I only play very very little so Iām probably wrong,) I like the focus on the core spells instead of CDās and if they do smooth out the damage so its less bursty its a good change for hots. Guardian of the Grove looks like a fun hero tree.
It will still be my main though.
Prepatch so far: taking off stuff i already had and creating problems i didnt had before, plus no new fun stuff.
-Moonkin form deleted from 3 speks, thats unbeliveable.
-I wanna dragon ride but also hover and instant fly with my druidās flight form.
-Fluid form lacking a little work to be usefull, it could work if they made it so ALL form related skills shapeshifted u into its form.
The way it is now i have to find 2 more hotkeys to use atop of my 44 keys.
More was taken from us than given. Pre-patch, we just lost Pulsar. Our dps now is a joke. Thereās a Paly doing 597k dps in our LFR raid. Iām struggling to get 200k+ with ilvl 499. My alt Ele Shaman outdpses my main Druid now easily. What a joke.
Checking Warcraft logs for Balance Druids, even the highest geared ones pale in comparison to the other classesās DPS.
Skyriding is rubbish. The good thing is we donāt have to see the same 6 dragonflying mounts over and over again. But having to toggle 3 sec normal flying just to use my flight form properly is enough to make people wanna quit. Instant flight form is something I consider core for Druids.
Looking at TWW Balance hero talents. Other classes get Phoenixes, 4 Horsemen, Demon lord summons, flashy new spells. And on our side, we get the same Treants we had since BC. I donāt even know whatās new with Eluneās Chosen other than passive stats, procs and damage increase. Rotation is the same boring stuff.
TBH, kinda regret getting TWW. Probably only playing for content and cancelling sub after.
For all my concerns and complaints about the class talent tree, I managed to find some builds that I like and that seem viable for my purposes (Balance-PvP). In particular, Iām running a fun speed build for the new Rated Battleground Blitz.
In fact, I only have two action bars again. It feels like the start of BfAā¦ and I love it!
The Balance spec tree and tuning have been amazing IMO. I still wish that as a whole, resources would be less abundant in the game and the focus would shift away from spenders feeling like fillers. Nevertheless, for the current design, I think itās wonderfully balanced and may be a better DPS contender than it was beforeā¦ At least thatās how itās been feeling to me, doing more consistent damage outside of burst windows. No numbers are of course final, as we go into a new xpak and more tuning will obviously be happening as we gear up (and prepatches tend to be wonky. Being able to spam 8 starsurges in a row each doing 300k though has been fun/ny)
I am glad to see one balance druid that is happy. For the rest of us, thinking about how arenas will be going, if they dont make some major tunning changes, we are cooked. Not to mention, as listed above, our class feels the same that its been for years. I know that Blizz doesnt have a dedicated druid dev, but come on. Starsurge should hit like a truck and not be hitting as hard as a beefed up wrath. Starfall is laughable even when stacked. I grow tired of passive abilities and even our hero talents are doing just that. Nothing new.
Oh, I am worried about Arena performance just as much as you are! Indeed, Iād far prefer how Starsurge felt at the start of BfAā¦ Cost 40 AP but hit like a truck. If anything, Iād make Full Moon an instant cast spender of 100 AP, say on a 1 min cooldown that just nukes.
I also agree that the hero talents are exceptionally boring and Bland. But hey, at least Barkskin is better now
Run a couple more Mythics with the new setup.
I think i jumped the gun about the changes to resto.
Its actually not that bad. Im using a lot less mana and the initial insta heal from rejuv + 2 swiftmends is nice mixed in with the other spells we have.
Bark skin is much better. Lasts 12 seconds 30% reduction. Itās just in the wrong place on the talent tree being locked behind a two point talent of instincts of the clawā¦.
Thatās the hard part of the druid tree is they have mandatory talents that we all need behind other specializations talents.
A fix would be to have a middle row of talents that includes all healing a survivability.
Like Iāve felt going into every expansion after legion, like druid gets minimal dev time, and what dev time we do get, ends up focusing on resto and sometimes balance, maybe a bit of trickle down to feral.
With guardian barely being acknowledged to even exist, unless they accidentally end up good, and then itās either a hotfix nerf or at best, a heavy nerf going into a subsequent season.
Mostly hoping to have fun with the early game gathering/crafting gold rush. Thatās where all of my limited enthusiasm is.
A great and accurate observation on the 2pt-wrong-spec talents being forced upon us in the class tree. Iāve raised it before release, but I guess now we have to wait however long for it to be addressed hopefully soomā¢
Iāve loved keeper since it was revealed so Iām very excited for TWW!
Like blizz is incompetent.
Ruined skyriding/static flight with the stupid toggle.
Flight form is completely messed up, slower than it should be in static flight. Has a GCD on dragon riding abilities so we basically have a cast time in flying in that form.
The changes to flight form are not great. Itās not all doom and gloom like people are saying, but not great. One of the great things about druid [during world quests] is being able to interact with quest objects in flight form. You canāt really do this with Skyriding because you fly in bursts (great for long distances, not great for more precise flying). So, you have to do a 5 second cast to change to normal flight and then another 5 second cast to change to Sky Riding after the world quest is over.
Overall, however, I like the changes to Feral and Guardian over the course of Dragonflight.
