Is anyone else so sold on the roll for loot system you see in raids that they do not understand why Blizzard doesn’t take it a step further and somehow add a way to the game to use it conveniently in a raid with a few buttons? Like you simply hit a key, then place an item in some window that pops up, and anyone who it would be an upgrade for could then simply hit a key and it would carry out the roll and then transfer it to the winner automatically. That kind of system would totally rock in my view.
Any thoughts on this anyone?

this used to exist but it was replaced by the much better system we have now

It’s not “much better” when I get something I don’t need, but the game won’t let me trade it. I’d like to see the ilevel restriction removed so that I can help people out and trade what I don’t want.
But back on topic, I think the OP is looking for a way to trade loot they got that they don’t need in a much easier fashion than having to link it in chat and ask for people to roll. I could be wrong, though.

That is exactly what I am talking about. So you get your personal loot and then if you want to offer it up it is quick and easy.

You should see their other thread; they want player discretion removed from the situation, so that there can’t be “favoritism” in giving gear.

I don’t really much care about their other thread. I was simply clearing up a misunderstanding on the topic.

No, you would still have all the discretion you like. You would just have the option of offering up your gear quickly and easily with a system that has been in the game for years, but has never been automated.
I’m not saying remove trade windows and the option of doing what you like with your unneeded gear. I am just saying why not automate a system that has been used in game for pretty much since vanilla and is still popular and has stood the test of time.
This sounds like a solid idea.
I think unlocking the ability to trade any loot and this idea would help players gear faster.
RCLootCouncil is a nice way to do this in a group of friends/guildies.

I feel like this would be super helpful.

This does not mean removing the option of passing gear to whomever you choose, like friends or whomever you or your groups deems gets it. I am just saying why not automate and make easy to use this popular roll on gear system you see used all the time.
Hey guys, thank you kindly for your input. I feared I was alone in thinking this, even after seeing the roll for loot system surviving for so many years and still being popular. In another thread, a lot of people have voiced strong opinions against you giving up your loot to others if it is not an upgrade for you. But I am not saying you have to do that at all if you dont want to. I am also not saying you cant give your gear to friend via a trade window if you like. But I do believe that a system that makes it convenient for you if you want to offer up your personal gear for rolls easily and conveniently because you dont need it would rock though. Hence I feared this idea would not be a welcome one but posted the above anyway, hoping people like you would join the discussion.
Thanks again.
OP is talking about the GREED option that used to exist.
It was called “greed” for a reason.

This is in game right now… Link the item in chat and say, “who needs this, roll”. Open trade, boom done.

No, it is not the greed option at all.
There used to be a window that popped up when gear dropped. You could select need or greed for the item. The problem was that some people indiscriminately always selected need even when the item was clearly not an upgrade for them. Blizzard removed that system. It was an honor system that people abused, so it is gone. This is completely different.

I feel like this is just an extension of your other thread.

Yeah, and? It seems to me that the discussion in the other thread has helped me to think of this. Hence, I am grateful to all participants in that discussion. Their thoughts have helped me on my quest for a solution to some problems in wow.

their thoughts apparently didn’t sink in at all.
you’re trying to create a solution, where there is no problem.
people shouldn’t feel obliged to hand their loot over.

Okay so let’s take your idea…
Nobully there gets gear he doesn’t want/need, puts it up for an offer for everyone to roll on it if they want it.
I roll, I win, and really have no use for it myself.
You still complain because it didn’t go your way
…and now is where you add another stipulation to specifically help yourself.
It’s my gear to do what I so please with. If the game is going to dictate who I give my stuff to, I’ll just vendor it.

It is, but they didn’t get the headpats there they wanted.

Because I want the option to give it to whomever I so choose, as you just stated. If it’s automated, I don’t really get the choice now do I?
