Only problem I see here is that not the highest roll always wins, at least in my guild. Usually highest takes it but if a 1 is rolled then that automatically wins.
Sometimes we roll on loot while running to the next encounter so if the winner is too far away the system would likely error out and not be able to open a trade window since the users are too far apart.
I think she has enough headpants going on already
Oh and you and your guild cannot adapt to a system that simplifies the process that would essential be the same?
Oh please. A new program could handle this and even if old code were somehow to be implemented it could simply mail gear that didnt reach the person because they were out of range.
I’ve suggested something similar before. It’d be nice especially if you’re in a dungeon or LFR to be able to hit pass and let the system take care of it.
IME People don’t usually engage for giving up loot they don’t need. You do see some people throwing out items they don’t want for rolling, but lots of people don’t even if they don’t want it at all. I usually don’t ask, but when I do it’s not uncommon for them to just trade it because I politely inquired.
Give people a system to say I don’t want it and they’ll offer up their unwanted items more often. Plus it also helps indicate to others whether they want it or not.
An intelligent system could assess whether the item is an upgrade for you or not at least in terms of ilevel. Is that not fine with people? Also it could assure that cloth wearers arent rolling for plate gear.
Not sure why you were being snippy? I was giving valid feedback about some limitations on this system.
If you couldn’t personalize it in any way then it wouldn’t be as useful as it could be.
The technical limations of having to be within range to trade is a valid concern. They would have to update the trade window interface, which is possible but maybe not a priority. Mailing something that would be an upgrade isn’t ideal either. Assuming it is am upgrade and not a transmog then you’d have to leave the instance to get your gear to equip. If there is a warlock handy not a huge deal but still slows whole group down.
I’m not saying this is a bad idea, I’m saying these problems would need looking into to have it run smoothly.
Sorry if I came across as snippy. Thanks for contributing your thoughts.
And why is that? I dont agree at all. They could make a whole new kind of window or whatever. The exact system design would be up to the game developers.
I suppose thats there to protect people that pug. Having gear demanded from you isn’t an option when its an ilvl upgrade.
Just as you’re unable to adapt the system that’s already in place. The “intelligent” system you already spoke of wont let you trade an item if it’s an ilvl upgrade for you. If someone wins loot, it’s theirs to do as they see fit with…why can’t you grasp that?
It’s a continuation of their other thread about perceived unfair loot trading where they posted a bunch of ad-homs against people who disagreed with them.
Personally, I’d like it if loot drops weren’t shown to other players.
Oh, I have people roll and I am fine with it. For others, though, I think it is an inconvenience sometimes, so they simply dump the gear off to the first guy who asks for it. I can adapt if I like by making a macro to message the guy with a very polite request for the gear if I like. Then I will beat everyone else in the race. Will I feel good about it though? That is a whole other can of worms.
There’s already an add-on in place to message people with a custom whisper when an item that you can use drops. Those people go on ignore right away. So feel free. If I want to give it away, I’ll do so. To whomever I so please, as is my right. And no one else has any right or say to that piece of loot.
Sometimes i’ll ask people to /roll, other times I give it to people in need, and some times I still just DE/vendor it because, well, why not?
So you are saying in so many words that you abhor others who want gear you would be willing to give to them under certain conditions. Having an addon that messages you or maybe someone politely messaging you is not one of them. You seem to relish in being fickle in your approach and yet you are probably just like everyone else who plays wow and does so and are hooked on or enjoy the whole idea of progressing your character(s).
If you can make others squirm, does that do it for you? Does it invigorate you and make you feel alive? The power to make someone feel good or crush them like a bug? How does that feel?
I think players will mostly ignore it and do as they please. and in my opinion they should. They earned that gear and they own it. If they want to give it away, they can give it away to anyone they please without feeling compelled to hand it over to anyone for any upgrade. JMO
That’s what they’re trying to prevent.
Not in the least…but when you’ve got an add-on that spams a message begging for an item that I don’t even know I’ve received yet…yeah, that’s not asking politely. It’s a cheap mans begging way.
I have no problems with people politely asking for things. Having an add-on spam the same message over and over again is not “politely” asking.
I’m all for people progressing. I run lower level dungeons/keys for people all the time for the simple sake of helping people. Trying to create a system to cater to your “I deserve your loot” mentality is the wrong approach to “progressing” though.
They can demand all they want. That’s what the ignore function is for. ![]()
Their other thread doesn’t concern me. I was simply clearing up a miscommunication.
They tried that once. Ironically, people complained so much that they changed it back. Because “it doesn’t look like the boss is even dropping loot.”
There’s no winning situation with loot.
That’s why they don’t want it.
Well darn, that’s unfortunate. ![]()
