As noted with Akston, you’re never going to be able to be able to provide an incentivize for someone who doesn’t need to randomly queue for a +8 to do so unless the reward is just that good. And providing too large of a reward will just make everyone cry about being forced to do so.
It’s a very tight rope I do agree, but using your example, I feel it is a far better alternative to encourage someone to blast through a +2 to get the ball moving so to speak, than to sit around with thumbs up their butts complaining about it.
Can it be done? I personally think it’s possible. Will it ever be done? This is M+, I know it’ll never happen. I just think it’s a better alternative than say, buffing tanks back to easy mode so they can hard carry again.
Sure, but does this actually solve the problem we set out to solve in this (and related thread)? Are players having such a hard time getting into a +2 today that a queue would be helpful? How far up the key ladder do we have to climb before players are selective enough that players who aren’t overqualified cannot get in?
I don’t fundamentally oppose there being a queue system added to the game for M+ provided there are assurances the difficulty and rewards have complete parity (outside of a small tank/healer incentive we’re talking about) with the non-queued system. It’s just in the history of queued content in WoW, that has never happened. Blizzard has set the bar for queued content at unfailable, and every time they’ve attempted to claw it back even just to minuscule chance of failure, the community loses its collective minds, and eventually Blizzard makes it easier. Since the key level where a queue would be most useful is likely to coincide with the key level where the failure rate is much higher, I greatly worry there would be changes that would result in both versions becoming easier or the queued version becomes clearly superior to the non-queued version.
No one is forcing anyone to do anything, lol! Up to you to decide whether any added incentive is enough to get you to consider changing your habits. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too, though, when your preference is a part of the problem.
If you want to stick to your guns as DPS-only along with everyone else making it a problem, that’s your choice, but don’t expect to share in any rewards others get for helping to solve it for you. That’s not how incentives work. If it does encourage others to swap to tank or heal, it helps the situation, because that’s one more tank or healer running keys where there was a DPS waiting for one along with you before.
Blizz could try a queue for M0s first and see how things go at even that comparatively low difficulty level. If it turns out not great, we could then reasonably project how things would go at higher stakes.
Which is the complaint of the OP. It’s a problem not just for those players who you want the game to gate out of your content because you don’t want them to make progress, it’s a problem for the game if a growing number of players who want to play have nothing to do because of gameplay development choices made by Blizzard.
HAHAHAHAHA… I can’t breathe… Meta matters because YOU would never bring those players into a group of yours. Heck, you probably would never have anything to do with anyone who is not a member of your tiny circle of friends.
Im not sure how many others have said it, but no. Just no. Mythic+ is supposed to be co ordinated, and what you seem to be proposing is a “LFD” tool for mythic. I may of misunderstood, but aside from depletion and the other thi gs there hanging, it doeSnt need an auto group tool. If you think it does, then please go back to follower dungeons. The LFD tool ruined the heroic dungeons back in the day in original wrath. Its why Mythics got created in the first place. The heck is wrong with you. I dont even do mythics, and can plainly see how your ideas would ruin mythics.
The issue is people want to do 10s but dont meet the prerequirments aka 610 ilvl and +9s in previous keys. Its like saying people should just be able to beat a final boss in a souls game without beating the previous bosses in that game. You work your way up
My last key was 2 ret paladins a brew master and a survival hunter. Im pretty sure meta doesnt matrer until you push world first. But thats more telling of you that you feel the need to only bring meta for whatever reason.
I do have minor heartburn over the fact that M0 does serve as a lower stakes jumping off point for folks to use the LFG tool rather than a queue, and some players may not get that experience until there are more stakes with someone’s key on the line.
But overall I’d be okay with Blizzard trying this to see how it goes. I don’t have high hopes, but the only way to really know is to give it a whirl. Perhaps during a fated season at the end of an expansion?
There is no such solution. You can’t make more healers and tanks appear out of the air. It’s not like they’re there but not playing, and suddenly the chance to play with completely random people will entice them where playing with groupfinder-selected randos doesn’t. Playing those roles either needs to somehow suck less than they do now, or sufficient incentive has to be created to make the suckiness worth it.
