I love WoW but have always been perplexed why there is no player housing. Player housing is a staple of this genre but has always been absent from WoW. Instead, we get the same gear treadmill where your progression resets with each expansion. Let me buy a house where I can proudly display Sylvanas’s head or hang my artifact weapon above the hearth.
Successful housing in other MMO’s has included this stuff since the 1990’s:
New recipes for different housing furniture and decorations for each profession. (Need a rug? Find a tailor.) Adds a much needed boost of creativity to professions and adds a new market to the server economy.
Furniture and decorations recipe world drops.
Unique trophy and decoration drops from raid bosses.
Individual player and guild housing themed after different WoW races.
Adds a gold sink. Blizzard sells more tokens and can afford good writers.
Because blizzard did something called garrison and alot of players think that trash is housing.
And those people never ever played another MMO that have a housing system that really works and trashtalk about garrison being trash (cause it is but garrison is light years from bein housing)
Player housing was in FF11, EQ2, and a few others and WoW had never made it a priority.
The WoW team can’t be bothered to make sure raid breaking bugs (Sylvanas chains glitch) and mega dungeon breaking bugs (Mailroom) before launching live content after 8 months…Do you think they’re going to take the time to make player housing.
At this rate they will do player housing next xpac, but want cool furniture? Cash shop. Then they will add a new crafting profession and limit node rates on stuff to build house stuff to spike the AH market to sell tokens.
And yet, other MMORPGs people don’t sit in their houses all the time, but rather hang out with people.
Player housing invites that kind of players, people who like socializing.
That’s BS though, due to one simple fact: garrisons weren’t housing. They were modular player cities that had all city functions and free material farming. Blizzard over-produced all the wrong parts by making it essential to progression and ignored the parts that are actually integral to player housing, like aesthetics and customization.
Well, all others MMOs have housing and noone stay in their home doing nothing.
As i sad before, garrison isnt housing.
Was just a try to do it and fail, and in wod beta blizz gave up and released that way.
Just because garrison exist and 90% of wow player base think garrison as housing, this game will never have it
That’s because that chunk had profession stuff, 2 mission tables and was center of the expansion.
Player housing is meant to be a side optional thing.
They went for player housing on paper, then added 50 other things, and made it not be player housing, but rather an instanced area for your missions in Draenor. Your base of operations.
It’s cool, it’s just Yesuna’s way of saying the devs are incompetent clowns that would make housing that forces players to spend excessive amounts of time in their home in order to actually play the majority of the expansion.
