Housing in WOW

Why do you care where the heck I spend my time? Have we ever met in game? Even if we did, would you be the wiser to it???

There’s people raid logging. There’s people jumping around and doing circles around Oribos waiting for Q’s to fill. There’s people in obscure older zones running around doing things and logging out from there.

Why does it matter where we spend our time??? So the people jumping around in Oribos or sitting around outside of the AH in Ogrimmar matter that much to you?

This is an illusion of community, it’s not real and it most certainly should not hold back new permanent casual systems like player housing. This is the dumbest argument against PH I’ve seen so far.

I don’t want housing. I want to be a SLUM LORD

Tell unfortunate suckers, “I don’t care if your kids are mutating because your ventilator is broken. I ain’t fixing it. That’s what you get for renting in Gnomeregan!! I’m adding a hassle fee to next months rent and you better pay it by the 1st or your out on your butt on the 2nd!”

It makes the game feel dead nobody out in the world is bad for a MMO even if they are just in oribos that’s better than them in their own instance

You mean multiple people in an instance and not just one chilling in their own? Wow your comparison sucks

It had housing in WoD, and it almost killed the game due to no need for player interaction with Garrison system.

Stop this, it’s never coming back

Again, almost killer the game in WoD.

Not happening

Transmog nor pet battles doesn’t either.

And if it requires meterials to be gathered, the forums will be ablaze every day with complaints about “how grindy” player housing is.

Let’s just not, please.

Garrisons were not housing. You stop it. Go see what other games do and report back.

I firmly believe thats a trade a good majority of the community would take.

At the same time, I think if Blizzard wanted to do a long term investment they could hire additional artist/concept designers to make it work out. I know people hate in game stores, but this type of stuff would be incredibly easy (imo) to capitalize on.

I also don’t think housing means raid tiers wouldnt exist, and again even if it did it would be well worth it.

Im not partial to ONLY guild housing, but if thats what it is and you can buy rooms, furniture, etc. and decorate with your guild? Sign me up!

Judging by how content is used, abused, and thrown out this is definitely a legitmate fear.

Feel like this can alleviate your fears some. Players like to cry WoW is dead to any who would listen, but what if housing could revitalize the world some?

Put some materials all throughout the world that players would have to gather for crafting certain furniture. Maybe if you want a certain lamp you need special aquatic materials from Vashjir, perhaps a certain table requires tusks from the grey items you get from hellfire boars, there could be furs you need from the Furbolgs in Northrend.

Whatever the case, I think there are certainly ways to add a myriad of things into WoW just from player housing that would engage the World a lot more if they want certain pieces from their houses. Professions could see MAJOR upgrades as well, Tailoring makes sheets, Jewelcrafting essentially bejewels, Leatherworking for Rugs, you get the picture. Maybe there are new NPCs scattered around the world you can learn patterns from or some new quests to figure out how to use strange materials.

I know it is a TON of work for Blizzard, but I do believe its one of the next major things that can put a lot back into the game, even if you don’t necessarily like the housing aspect and are afraid of the instancing, housing can put people back in the world even if the end goal is to make a house to show off to friends/family.

LOL and do you do when i want do raid or dung?

WoW is a lobby game pal, you just sit in orgrimmar or stormwind and wait invites to do stuffs

Go make some wq that get 20 min of your gameplay and thats it

I mean. It’s like that now.

Yeah and those lobbies have other people in them you moron housing is going to be people sitting there by themselves not with others is that so hard to get or do I need to spell it out?

Everyone farmed everything they want for their house now what? Oh they just sit in it now by themselves this would have an initial boost of people out farming stuff then when their done their done. No longer out in the world with others.

Wow can’t do player house because their attention span is only 2 years long and god forbid we have a normal game where we get permanent features that expands and stays current throughout the life of the game.

No matter what is done the amount of people in the world is going to drop off over time. Introducing ways for players to return to it can breathe life and keep the world active that much longer.

It’s the same concept in Classic, if I and my guild already have all needed gear from dungeons then I am very likely to log in less. There comes a time when people “complete” certain sections of the game and players start to drop off, housing can help revitalize the world for longer and be a static idea that players can continually customize.

I don’t know if individual player housing is a good idea. Garrisons had some positives but also showed us that everyone hanging out by themselves in their own personal space isn’t exactly the best idea for the game. Player housing just feels like one more thing to make people feel more disconnected from a sense of community- which is what people keep saying is missing from retail.

Housing is important in MMOs. I remember when it was added to LotRO. It’s nice having a place you can customize and call your own. Garrisons are not the same. Other games have player housing as well. LotRO was my first experience with player housing and one that I remember fondly.

LotRO and FF14 have neighborhoods of roughly 20-50 houses including guild halls and individual homes. I think there were 1-2 sets of crafting stations in the neighborhood in LotRO housing areas - that can lead to interacting with players in the same neighborhood since they were in a shared location. That canot happen with garrisons since each garrison is its own individual phase.

Crafting recipes for things like furniture and paintings can make a big impact on the economy, in a positive way. Some furniture can be an additional collectible reward from various types of content. I had a balrog sword statue in my house’s yard in LotRO from killing a raid boss. I also had a pond feature in the yard as well.

There can be a wide variety of things that can be placed in houses and in the yards outside each house. A lot of the fun is in collecting things and experimenting to truly make your house your own.

Yeah, I mean the multiple people pulled out of the game world and Oribos and Stormwind and Orgrimmar at the same time and dropped into their private little extremely rewarding clubhouse for hours at a time, with nary a thought to how it might negatively impact the open world game population.

Please give player housing another try, BLIZZ!!!
