Housing in WOW

And then when everyone is sitting in their house instance queing for stuff through LFG the world will feel dead great idea.

Maybe don’t put an AH, xmog, daily quest hub, ship yard, or a command table in the house. That’s what they did for Garrisons.

Housing should be 100% vanity. No gameplay benefit. A place to show off your wealth.

That’s it.

Sorry, i am new to the game: What happens in Goldshire?

Housing would invest a lot of people in their characters and the game more, tbh. When the actual PvE isn’t to your taste, you could always have things to do with your house.

What I would not recommend WoW do is making it a gold sink in a very finite supply, or force players to camp for a day or more just for the chance of getting one. That’s terrible game design.

Even without these things it would happen. Mounts give you AH and xmog. Daily quests are irrelevant a couple weeks into the xpac for most and many dispise the shipyard or command table. You don’t want to segregate your player base even more when you bleeding subs. What’s the point in playing an MMO with nobody around and people just chilling in their own instance

So disable mounts.

If it’s not tied to gameplay then they would be out in the open world anyway.

Or is it such a problem that people can spam queue dungeons in a pocket dimension rather than … anywhere else.

Current retail players: Haha, having fewer features and less content makes this a better game! Haha. (inhales copium)

Walks outside house mounts up for a min walks back in,

What? If it’s not tied to gameplay and they don’t have to go farm for cosmetics for it that’s even worse.

Yes when they do it in oribos they are still out in the world making it feel like there are others out there with you

They should dig up Wildstar’s grave and rob their housing system, which was fantastic and allowed for a nice bit of creativity.

It’s instanced, it doesn’t matter if you’re inide or outside. That’s the point, isn’t it? If you wanted to mount up you would have to leave the instance and then re enter.

Mounts aren’t even a game breaking element to this feature, it’s literally just addressing one (of many) possible ways you could do it without forcing the player base in instanced content.

You misunderstand. Let me rephrase that,

In Garrisons, your progression in herb gathering, mining, fishing etc. was tied to the garrison system. Meaning, if you wanted to improve your professions, you HAD to lock yourself in your garrison.

Instead, if garrisons acted like player housing, like every other MMO that has the feature, it forces you to go OUT of your house, kill some bosses. Bosses have a chance to drop a lamp.

Or if you were a tailor, you have to go OUT to level up your profession and learn how to craft a bed or a rug. The experience, resources and gold you pour into your house offers no gameplay benefit, it’s just a status symbol for hold much time (or gold) you invest for bragging rights.

This argument comes across as you trying to argue against a feature that you’ve never seen an example of in practice. Apologies if I am wrong, but this is not the hill to die on.

Bosses are in instanced content aside from 1 world boss a week

Go out to the ah buy what you need and then go sit in your house some more? Sounds like they really be out there doing stuff in the world huh? This system will promote people to sit in their houses and is not good for an MMO

Again, missing the point. Leave the instanced content to go in another instanced content for a chance at some loot you can put towards a vanity feature. This isn’t new.

You know the great thing about player housing? They’re like battle pets.

You don’t have to do it.

Why not? I could just lock the door & not let any of you weirdos in.

When all you do is sit in instance content the entire time you play the world feels dead. That is not good for the health of an MMO people need to go to a city and see others rather than everyone just chilling in their home

Battle pets don’t effect the world people sitting in their houses making it feel empty does it’s not the same dude

TL;DR

Player sentiment: “WoW’s dying, final fantasy is better but we don’t want to do anything to make the game compete on a competent level.”

I dunno man, other developers seemed to have figured it out.

I’d love player housing and guild hall to decorate too! instanced where we could still see general chat like in a city would be just fine if they worried about community. For guild halls, could always have guildies add temporarily what they have and if they leave guild, it just disappears and goes with them. so many options. main thing would be quests and loot to earn such items. could enhance professions too by letting them craft furniture/items!
