This is also what I’m intrested in too. An apartment in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, or Dalaran.
This reminded me of the secret base they had in Pokemon Emerald.

Exactly! I would rather wait longer than having a bad expansion.
Holy sh***t!!!
I love this idea so much!!!
If Blizz is bringing this to WOW, i am literally mever offline!!!
No. This demand almost killed WoW during WoD.
The whole problem with player housing is that it is either a useless addition (basically just an empty house) or a Garrison, which replaces the need for multiplayer interaction.
In addition, the coding of the Garrison cost the devs 1 raid tier (which the devs said was meant to be Shattrath city).
Let’s put this idea away.
Why do you care what people do in their homes? Wow needed housing but it’s way too late for this game to be saved.
Please stop with this. There are ideas we haven’t tried. You got Garrisons and they sucked.
I mean this just means that people who do that sorta stuff in Goldshire may end up moving into their own homes and now pollute the inn as much.
I was already 200% on board for player housing but now I’m 300%.
I think the idea of housing in WoW could be a good idea, but I don’t see the point in the cynical attitude, OP
There must always be a Goldshire. Be happy it’s in one part of one zone on one server which leaves literally everywhere else to be great RP spots unspoiled by the kind of trolls such places attract.
This said, housing wouldn’t kill Goldshire or help it. Goldshire just is, it’s not something that housing is going to hide out of view because it is kind of a social thing for the people there it seems, I mean I guess. You have guilds based around it after all and all those people standing around, dancing, soliciting money in their TRPs and what-not. Honestly GS has no relevance to the discussion at all.
Now what it might do is draw more people who are engaging in a certain kind of RP (ahem) who you randomly find sitting on each other without armor in random spots in the world. But those people never really bothered me anyways. I couldn’t care less what people do with their time in-game and if that’s fun for them and they’re not being edgelords and ruining things for everyone else -shrug-.
I feel like you are too charitable to Blizzard. What they did in both situations there (well arguably with garrisons, the void elves are debatable as to what possessed them to do that) is a poison pill approach.
The community wanted something, Blizzard had to know what it was they wanted, they instead gave them something else that they called their version of that something but which lacked the essence of that something and was ultimately badly received for being badly done and failing to be actually what the players wanted (in the case of Garrisons it wasn’t real housing, it was a mini-base, a kind of RTS throwback with building choices but nothing anyone honestly could call what players were clamoring for in housing which was a house, not a military outpost, with customization inside the house, not a choice of huts outside it).
Blizzard then pointed to the reception for their self-sabotaged poison pill “caving” to the player base and confidently said “see, you think you do but you don’t, you hated it”, and no, we hated how Blizz did it which was either incredible incompetence or I think some level of malevolence. I’m not saying it was on the planning board to screw players but I think it was in the minds of many devs and influencing their thinking, a kind of spiteful “well if you insist… have it then muahaha”. They followed the letter but violated the spirit so to speak.
Among other things, we should be clear that for years, right up until BFA the excuse for no High Elves for Alliance was “well there aren’t enough left”, then out of the blue they create this new subgroup of a devastated people compromising a fraction of a fraction and suddenly they shift to the excuse being “faction/racial identity” without an ounce of awareness or decency.
As to the Garrisons they are in no way housing as I mentioned. They’re full of NPCs you cannot get rid of, their central point is missions of a military nature, the customization is down to what buildings you place and maybe what guards and a few customizeable NPCs you’d like hanging around. No one wanted that. No one asked for that. Because it’s instanced does not mean it is housing. It has no place for the player to sleep, the player’s role there is not to rest and relax but to command troops. It doesn’t have rooms the players can decorate, it’s full of unwanted NPCs, the players have no choice in location, style of building, etc. Lorewise it is not a house. It is not your property. It is military property, a military base that you as a commander in your faction of Horde or Alliance are placed in charge of for military purposes and leading armed forces against hostiles. Again it’s a mini-RTS throwback. No player housing should have a version of their faction’s leader and other top NPCs just hanging around casually, that’s absurd.
My only real concern is that Actiblizzion couldn’t be trusted to handle something like housing.
They WOULD timegate it, add restrictions, link it to a forced participation system, make a weekly grind for it, add borrowed power, and then somehow find a way to kill it off for the next expansion if WoD, Legion, BFA, and SL are any indication.
Considering that ,op no one really know because no doubt your house is no one else business and likely would be private. If this is what people are worried about you don’t have to.
Player housing would be a phased thing which takes more players out of the general world setting making it even less of a social environment.
I mean if they want to keep to Azeroth and keep adding islands or more continents. Instead of giving players a house or a castle, give us a Sylvanna’s huge boat. Our housing could be a massive boat for our characters. Then you could tie in some of the old content like island expeditions, scenarios, follower missions, naval missions.
Also given a lot of the art styles are already in the game for a few of the races, it wouldn’t be hard to give us options for different types of boats and racial styles for them.
I place to set our trophies and dive into creating a home would be nice.
We don’t have fun here though.
That’s what was great about the alliance garrison. You had an entire room for displaying your archeological finds. It was so freaking cool.
Might draw … ?
Thats a pretty much guarantee
Cool this thread again. Still no.
Imagine ALL your accomplishments and collectables there! Even a lock down system where your could collect rare stuff and lock them down. Would be Awesome!
I’m just saying if they gave us a massive boat as a “house” with our own crew of followers. It could easily function as our own house.
That sounds pretty cool. One of the things I liked about garrisons was the ability to place the followers of your choice you either found through quests or recruited at the inn.
