House of the dragons confirmed season 2

Who else is excited about the news?

Actually the expansion is called Dragonflight. And of course it will have a season 2. When has there only been a single mythic season during an expansion? That’d be lame.

Oh I was talking about HBO MAX house of the dragon (game of thrones prequel) but nice try on changing the subject.

Dunno. I haven’t watched House of Dragons and don’t plan to until it’s all out and either I pirate it or use a free sub since I don’t want to subscribe to Binge (who it’s licensed through over here in Aus).

No, really? Oh my goodness, I had no idea! Wow, that’s egg on my face, huh?

One episode of a single season gave them enough information to feel safe dumptrucking millions more into a second entire season?

I liked it a lot. THE TRUE QUEEN

I mean, it’s GoT.

Even at it’s worst, it still pulled insane numbers and as mad as people are about S8, they’re obviously not mad enough to write off the franchise as a whole.

This topic belongs in off-topics, not here. Having “dragon” in the game doesn’t auto make it wow dragonflight related when your talking about a TV show.

Yeah, it’s GoT, but it’s also GoT.
Maybe I’m just too pessimistic to believe anything good can come of this after the evitable train-wreck it turned into. Then again it might bring in vast returns despite qualitative equivalence to the latter seasons of the original show and I’m not able or willing to see the money through the piles of corporate slime.

I never watched game of thrones. I… might have the book among the piles of books I have around my place… idk.

That being said… eh, if Martin is involved I’d be more interested, but if it’s a different group that are simply trying to clone GoT… I’ll avoid it.

Wasn’t it golden until the closer?

I don’t know exactly what you mean here, but apparently the issue was the writing, and there not being enough source material. So, I don’t know what corporations have to do with any of that.

I mean I don’t disagree, but I can accept that we’re both wrong in this regard.

I’ve just kinda accepted that any IP that gets this big it doesn’t really matter how much crap they pump out, they can just coast off of the fanbase they built on the success.

Like Star Wars could release another trilogy right now even after how the sequel trilogy went and it would still print literally all the money. Same with Lord of the Rings, it’s show will probably get insane ratings even though the IP has pumped out mostly dreck since it’s early 2000’s trilogy.

Went downhill once they ran out of books (which end at Jon Snow’s death, or the S5 finale).

S8 was just especially bad since the show tried to end ~2-3 seasons worth of storylines in half a seasons worth of episodes.

I found funny that so many people where septic about House of Dragon just because of GOT’s last season. Like suddenly everything GOT related is trash when the show has been an absolute masterpiece for so many years.

Then the first Dragon episode came out and everyone si like Pikachu face. Oh yeah it’s actually good… duh.

That I’m either unwilling or unable to see the money that lies behind pumping out what’s bound to be qualitatively garbage despite the profits it would rake in, and that I’m uncertain at present exactly which it is.

Exactly. It’s all too big to fail, and the moneyed interests behind these endeavors that realize it know they can put out garbage and cop profit essentially off of name recognition alone.

HBO was more than willing to throw money at the original series to keep it going but the two producers, Benioff and Weiss, wanted to jump ship for Star Wars so they short-sheeted the story and gave us a ham-fisted final season. It ended up backfiring on them as people hated how it ended and no one wants their names in any projects right now.

Don’t get your hopes up with the new CEO of Warner Bros.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I am not in a hurry to give HBO any money right now after the horrible changes they have been making since the merger was announced.

Maybe once the season is over so I only have to subscribe for a month.

Maybe because the subject has nothing to do with WoW and you’re posting on the General forums for some reason.

Not me. First of all I hate prequels. And you know if we’re talking about a game of thrones one, couldn’t care less. Only way I watch that crap is if I get desperate enough for dragons. Bout it.

Off topic but they must of had good numbers to bet on a season 2.

I never got into GoT and seeing what direction they openly ascribe to, I’ll avoid this series.
