Because players understand that gdkps are income for players. You threaten a man’s income they will get revenge. Just look at the lengths they have gone to over the last 2 years.
Next time don’t brag to people over discord how much you are earning while breaking the rules, and these things wouldn’t happen.
Significantly less than those that would buy gold to avoid grinding it.
Equating farming gold, which consists of several hours of boring grinds that only the most autistic actually enjoy and raiding with the boys once a week for a chance to earn loot is ridiculous.
And then factor in the those hours you are spending farming gold are even more worthless because there are thousands of bots injecting tens of thousands of raw gold into the economy daily.
How much gold have you bought exactly? Mr “I keep making excuses for cheaters, but I don’t actually cheat myself I just defend them constantly. No really, I don’t cheat. Trust me bro.”
Understanding why someone does something and defending it are not the same thing.
Blizz is responsible for policing RMT and bots in their game. And they have completely failed.
Telling players to report everyone of their friends or guildies they think bought gold is like trying to bail water out of a sinking ship with a thimble. If you think that’s the solution, it’s not worth continuing to discuss this.
Mass public perma bans. And actually hire in game GM’s and invest in better bot detection.
So in other words, I understand why they buy gold.
Bailing water out of the titanic with a thimble. Unless you enjoy reporting people, you are wasting your video game time doing this.
I agree. I have made this argument in several threads.
Buying gold is too appealing when you consider the risk vs reward. That has to change. Bots farm freely for months. Punishments for RMT are easy to avoid and very lenient.
You can understand why something exists without condoning it.
It’s not a waste of time getting cheaters banned.
That’s why I think they should go straight to permabans for cheating(Gold buying) instead of a 2 week ban with minimal enforcement.
Even proactive enforcement with a 2 week ban would do more than the current system where people advocate for cheating on the discord/in guild chats because “They don’t punish you.”
Quote me saying I condone it, people should buy gold, blizz shouldn’t punish it, etc. I do understand why you think I’m condoning it.
The way I argue this is to make a point that gold buying is so appealing which is why so many are doing it.
I want more people to see this (maybe even blizz) and understand the real problem. blizz has failed to police bots and lets them farm so much they can sell gold for absurdly cheap prices that most can’t even comprehend and the community in large agrees that the punishments are easy to avoid and not very punishing.
Farm gold for 10 hours doing dm jump runs. Or spend $10 and get more gold than that. As long as this holds true, huge portions of the playerbase will buy gold.
Saying I condone gold buying while I am arguing in the same post that blizz should perma ban gold buyers. How does that make any sense?
You’ve been making the same arguments to me for weeks now.
I know your stance, why do you keep telling me the same thing over and over again?
Do you forget who you’ve spoken to?
The problem is Three-fold.
Blizzard isn’t policing the game properly.
Bad Actors(Cheaters) are taking advantage.
People like you are turning a blind eye to it because it’s your guildies.
Cheaters will buy gold.
There’s a lot of people that play legit
Idk why do you keep trying to explain to me why people buy gold when I’ve made it clear that I understand the reasons and I don’t care?
“I don’t like bad thing happening in video game.
I don’t care why it happens. Just make it stop.”
You dont know what condone means.
Condone - Accept and allow behavior to continue
I’m asking for better bot policing and mass public perma bans for RMT.
I repeat the same talking point about $10 for 1k gold or 10 hours farming for 1k gold to show how ridiculous this problem has become. Do you think the price of RMT gold doesn’t actually affect how many people would buy it. Gold prices are mainly driven by how easy the bots can farm gold.
Players that would have never considered buying gold see these prices, see their friends doing it and rarely getting banned (and only 2 week slap on wrist), then join the crowd.
I’m at fault because I don’t report my friends and guildies that buy gold? It’s not my job to police the video game I am paying a monthly sub to play.
No, I know why it happens but I don’t care because it’s just making excuses for taking shortcuts.
Yet you won’t report guildies who you know are RMTing.
Condoning the behaviour.
You only seem to respond to me with these same tired talking points that cheaters use to legitimize their cheating when they aren’t bringing up the WoW Token.
That’s a lack of scruples more than anything.
I’ve never had the urge to cheat just because it appears to be easy to do so.
You’re condoning their behaviour by ignoring it.
If all the people doing that would actually report the bots & cheaters there wouldn’t be a problem.
We all know that blizzzard’s system is built around player reports and we have to work with the system they’ve given us.
All your advocacy for change means nothing. They don’t read the forums.
The in-game feedback button is broken so we can’t even go that route.
So your options are:
“Report cheaters and botters in game” or “Complain on the forums but don’t actually affect on change in game.”
Reporting cheaters in game doesn’t do anything either. That’s why the bots farm enough gold for it to be unimaginably cheap to just swipe. Because no matter how many people report the bots you gotta wait over a month for the next ban wave while that bot free-farms 24/7.
Even if it’s only 50gph, that’s 1200g per day. Bots don’t have to stop. They don’t get bored, they don’t get tired. And it’s never. Just. One.
So lets upscale. 10 bots is 12000g/24hr’s, that’s not bad but why not 50 bots. 60k a day. 258k a month (on average)… (at $10 per 1k gold that’s $2500 a month? Hol up am I that bad at math? I am that bad at math jfc)
And that’s before we talk about the people swiping to buy the things botters farmed so they’re actually getting a portion of their gold BACK to resell.
Gee, I wonder why gold is so cheap that we nicknamed an entire server after swiping.
Then add on top of all that, the punishment for swiping is, 2 weeks and maybe you lose your gold/items bought. IF you get caught.
