you think your one report on your guildie gets them banned or even looked at by a real person? We have gone back and forth a lot and you don’t seem dumb enough to actually believe this.
If you don’t call the police on every car you see speeding you’re condoning the behavior. You know that sounds ridiculous and it’s the same argument you’re making against me.
This is the real issue that drives RMT.
I agree. A public announcement that blizz will be perma banning all first time gold buyers and then following through would be a big help. A lot less people would buy gold if they saw half their guild perma banned for RMT.
I’m actually astounded that 50 bots could be making someone 2500 a month (-750 in sub fees tho). Like… that’s less than I make working an actual job but I’ve gotten by off less. And I live in the US. For some guy in another country that’s gotta be like, lifechanging levels of income, particularly when compared against the amount of effort involved.
No, it takes multiple reports.
It takes officers and GMs with the guts to kick cheaters from their guilds.
Buying gold is akin to counterfeiting money not speeding.
If someone buys gold and then buys something from you there’s a chance that Blizzard takes that gold away from you if/when that person gets banned.
It’s mostly the lack of enforcement and the slap on the wrist.
If they actually enforced the RMT ban and jumped straight to 6mo bans on first infraction people would think twice.
Also:
They could be doing their ban waves during the weekly maintenance.
Blizzard claims that they do it every few months so the botters don’t know what got them caught.
Weekly maintenance seems like a good time to do it since they won’t be connected and then they just won’t be able to reconnect.
You’d see a flood of people posting on the forums complaining that they got “BANNEDFOR NO RAISON” and there would be much comedy to be had.
The exact same place any gold you get from other people via interactions in the game comes from.
GDKP Cut gold comes from legitimate gold farmers and botted gold combined.
AH sales gold comes from legitimate gold farmers and botted gold combined.
Selling in trade chat gold comes from legitimate gold farmers and botted gold combined.
Accepting gold for signing a guild charter gold comes from legitimate gold farmers and botted gold combined.
Gold your friend mails you gold comes from legitimate gold farmers and botted gold combined.
It’s all the same and is equally abused by people trying to take shortcuts by buying botted gold.
“Where does that gold come from?” coming from people who actively sell things on the auction house and in trade chat is laughable.
Hypocrites everywhere.
The amount of people buying gold to pay for consumables and buying hard reserves in this current iteration of the game is likely causing vastly more swiped gold per day than any gdkp enabled server ever has, even with the edge cases of people paying ungodly amounts of gold for items for youtube clickbait videos.
Because wow is no longer a product of passion. They want to keep subs running and spend as little as possible doing it. This type of moderation will actually require stateside game masters to be hired that can be trusted. Much cheaper to rely on what their automatic reporting and algorithms do. (Not enough, that’s what they do.)
