Hot Take: Ban Doomsayers

We’ve been straight mean at times, but I can also compartmentalize, and there is always something — at some point — that I will agree with a person on.

You started attacking everyone for not understanding the first admedment, (which I do understand, 9th grade civics class stuff) but when asked to explain your position you just defaulted to the typical deflections.

Censorship can happen anywhere, including gaming forums. No one is arguing that Blizzard doesn’t has the right to do what they want with their forums, most were just pointing out the ridiculousness of the OPs assertion that there needs to be censorship of people voicing criticism.

I haven’t seen one single example of incendiary comments being flung here, or in-game. I asked the OP multiple times to provide examples, but all I get is stoned walled.

Most of you guys posting here are just bored WoW players trying to fill the void of the end of an expansion.

I just saw this. Yeah, perfectly valid.

Honestly, idk if it’s so simple as “US” any more.

I mean the more people are online, the less geography matters (especially as more and more people share a common language in English)

It’s less about being American or German or Italian and more about being “internet dweller” :joy:

I think the only time i’d dislike a post straight away regardless of their position, was if they started out by quoting the most recent nonsense that came out of Asmonbald’s mouth. Mention that you watch his crap and you’re automatically on my list of people to ignore (not literally ignore, but just not talk to lol).

I miss being able to dislike the forum white knight frequent posters. I just have most of them on ignore, which is just as good.

Look I’ll try to be more subtle about subverting the community with the ideas that Asmonbald funnels into my veins via I.V. alright?

Nah, this idea of demanding censorship of things you disagree with doesn’t really exist outside certain “western” countries, things are really taking a scary turn.

Asmonbald is pretty insufferable these days. I think losing his mom kind of sent him over the edge.

lol, won’t lie, I’ve watched his content.

Bit of praise I will give to asmongold is, if not for him, I wouldn’t have discovered Pint, or Barny, or “the dark secret of world of Warcraft”, or Platinum Wow.

While I do think react content is pretty lazy, I also think it helps people discover content creators they wouldn’t otherwise find.

Oh, also, I think he’s 100% right when he says it would’ve been totally cool if N’zoth actually beat us and the Jailer was resetting our reality so we could be resurrected into a world overrun by the Old Gods, and that should’ve been the expansion after Shadowlands.

Beyond that, I’m pretty meh about asmongold.

Nobody is asking for it where it’s already happening, that’s true.

I’d probably be banned for specifying the contrast between the punishment for certain violent crimes in certain places in Europe and the punishments for posting the wrong memes on social media in those same countries.

But we’re talking actual issues now and not just forum drama. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s very “Karen”. I just assumed other cultures had their versions of Karen too

Actually nope, it’s mostly a US (europe but europe is basically a US colony lol) based thing.

I just avoid engaging with them, there are certain people here that will want to “win” an argument at all costs, if that means shifting goalposts, hyperbole and an army of strawmen, that’s what they’ll do just so they can defend Blizzard. They aren’t worth talking to, but i find it amusing how they’ll attack anyone that says anything bad about WoW/Blizzard, but when they personally care about a topic, they’ll have no issues with going on the attack lol

what about islamic countries? what about russia and china? they have censorship but it’s not by whining individuals it’s by the tyrannical state and it’s far more serious than just randomly censoring things.

Like I said earlier…

Ain’t touching that with a insert yardage here pole.

Yep, they start complaining about “ad hominem” attacks. Ignoring them improves the forum experience quite a bit.

I personally think the mods give these posters a very wide berth, so many of them skirt the CoC, but the mods would never give them a vacation.

Yeah, if you spend enough time here, you can definitely see how unevenly certain things are enforced.
