It’s all about the time of day. If I que a few hours prior to the daily reset I get smashed by Alliance over and over. Once the Reset happens, it’s the other way around for about 4-5 hours. Then I merc to alliance because Alliance starts smashing the Horde. Sorry to say but you just need to que at the right time if you want to win and once you start getting smashed if your horde, merc. If your Alliance then take your beatings or wait for the next cycle to hit.
Wintergrasp (as crappy as it is) is a good look at skill level of each side as each side plays def or attack. I have won almost every Wintergrasp on the horde side. The alliance just sucks and there is no advantage to one faction. On the otherside the new brawl that is happening right now is a horde slaughter. I barely get the first win out of it queing all day. Smaller group means it’s like a RBG all about the teams comp, and I seem to get in a team with a mix vs alliance that seems to always have multiples of heavy dps or healers. Luck of the draw i guess.
A simple merc mode toggle “check box” in the bg tab might encourage more mercing, and thus help balance out the win/loss ratios a bit
No doubt a decent # of Horde players (a) are not even aware about merc mode or (b) if they are aware of it, they might be too lazy to go looking for the merc NPC, so they just queue Horde rather than having to manually run aaaaaaallll the way to the merc NPC
Both these statements have some truth to them, probably.
In other news, just won a Wintergrasp despite us being way short on workshops and vehicles. The few we had (me and another guy in demos and 2 people with sieges) basically broke through all the walls unopposed.
It’s way better than it was, but I really doubt most people bother with it or notice it. Every time I go to the PVP area for potions or to turn in the conquest bar, I’m the only person there. There’s no incentive to be in the area.
The dummies at Blizz thought they created the new “dueling hangout” there, with the dueling club thing. But nope people duel by the Great Seal flight path. If they barred dueling in Dazar’alor maybe things would be different.
I mean i just use my Dalaran stone and run 15secs to the guy in the sewer… real tough. Should be a permanent buff though that you can click off. I hate the duration cause I am trying to do other things between ques.
I know it sounds like a joke, but I really do believe a built-in on/off toggle merc mode “check box” right there in the bg tab would result in more mercing
Does the Alliance PVP vendor area (where your merc guy would be if you had it) have Trade Chat or require a flight path? I think a checkbox like War Mode would be helpful.
Alliance PvP area doesn’t have a nearby flight master as far as I know , you have to manually mount up and run there from “tradewinds market” flight master. It’s a two-story house next to the water.
Thanks! I’m assuming your dueler club thing is right there too right? See that’s dumb game design. If they want to make a hangout for people with a certain interest set, don’t gimp them from the game’s social infrastructure.
I did notice there’s now a Tortollan “trace the shape” World Quest right by our backwoods PVP area, maybe more people might notice it.
Edit: Sargeant Wilson to my left is the Merc dude. Scrollsage Nola is the Tortollan who is down through the Dueler Guild pit which is to my right. https://imgur.com/a/odJTG5d
Yeah if Blizzard’s goal was to create “PvP hubs” that would attract PvP players then they failed , because there aren’t any other Ally in the area. It’s literally just me standing here right now. Meanwhile, all the casual PvPer Alliance like to do their duels around the Snug Harbor inn area.
It’s the same thing on the Horde, usually it’s just me and like 1 other Horde at the Mugambala… the area is a ghost-town other than 1 or 2 Horde occasionally riding in on their mounts to turn in a quest. Meanwhile, the casual PvPers mostly hang out in front of the Great Seal and do their duels there.
Yeah it makes me sad because the Dueler Guild was something people asked for but they implemented it so bad it went over like a lead balloon. I’m sure Blizz was like “well they wanted it and we gave it, nobody bothers”.
Oohh, nice win rate. Assuming that is on your posting horde toon? I don’t think there’s a way to show only epics as a group in REFlex… you’d have to export the data and collate it yourself - someone correct me if I’m wrong. (Mine were all epics because they are all I care to play for the most part… the passion/fun has waned over the last few months though…)
Also, I’m sad I can’t reply to more than just one post due to blizz’s weird “spam preventing” forum rule.
