How is the Horde population doing on Moon Guard compared to Wyrmrest these days? I know Moon Guard will never reach a 50/50 but has it got a little better than what it was around Legion and WoD?
Heard it’s actually much worse now.
It’s so weird to me how people who never actually play Horde on MG, or even talk to any of us, keep speaking for us. If you don’t actually know, why bother saying anything at all?
OP, yes we’re small, no we’re not as populated at MG-A or WRA-H, or as visible. Most RP is in guilds, private plotlines, and server campaigns; walkups are sparse, and occur mostly at the Wyvern’s Tail in Valley of Honor, but population there is hit or miss. We have a couple of Discords that are good resources for folks to make connections or find a guild, as well as the guild listing pinned to the top of the forum, here.
Yes if you come here expecting anything similar to what MG-A or WRA-H have in terms of population, you’re going to be disappointed. However, having a whole bunch of people in one spot/city isn’t the only gauge of a community’s health. OOCly our players tend to be older and, I think, more mature - there’s less petty drama, and people get along pretty well for the most part and have a good understanding that IC and OOC should be kept separate as much as possible. If there are problems, people talk to each other, and in general we’re a pretty supportive community who do our best to be involved in the server at large and boost others up.
We’re just…y’know. Smol. But a lot of us don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing, either, which isn’t to say we’d be opposed to it changing.
As Mirchea stated, we don’t have the same numbers or populated as high as MG-A or WRA-H but we are still here and doing what we can to cultivate and encourage growth on the server on Horde side. We have numerous discord servers, communities and guilds still running around, alongside upcoming things that are even being brainstormed about.
That said, MG-Horde is certainly not dead as some tend to spout but we are here and doing what we can to be more visible.
It’s been a lot better than it’s been. The slump is gone and the community is growing! The community is running various tavern nights, fights, guild events, and soon to be server campaigns.
Months End Brawl regularly has over 40 competitors, though granted some of those are Alliance - however, we’ve been filling and overflowing raid groups Hordeside for over a year now.
Horde Coalition meetings, same deal.
Every event I ran for Tropic Sunder a month ago had 25+ Hordies at it - just MY events, not even counting the other Horde or Neutral/Cross-faction events that were being run, which also experienced quite the level of participation.
More Tropic Sunder Hordies.
Horde ain’t dead, we’s just sleepy.
Yeah I’m actually bummed I missed this (though I didn’t go to Tropic Sunder anyway). Always thought the Filthy Animal in new Dal was cool af. Happy to see it being used, and I really would love to see more stuff happen there!
Quantity is one thing, quality is another. MG Horde has the latter, to a high degree
Because a friend who plays Horde on MG told me that.
As someone with a toon on both sides here - if you go from MG-A to MG-H you are going to see fewer folks, that is for sure. But MG-H has some of the better RPers of the server, great folks, and the community is growing. If you have folks saying it’s getting worse on MG-H it is because they are not actively participating in the server.
Coalition of the Horde, United Horde, Moon Guard Roleplayers - all active discords with PLENTY of Hordies in them that show the community is not as small or suffering as people think.
So, OP, my opinion is that if you want to RP Horde on Moon Guard - go for it. There is always room for people and we welcome new faces. Moon Guard is the Arms Warrior of Horde RP. Everyone says play fury (WRA), but MG is just as good.
Luckily for you, there’s talk of it being moved as a hub of RP! Mostly because you can’t PvP there, Alliance can’t drop in to grief players there, and it’s very large and accommodating for people to come in and go as they please and find a spot to hang out at. I know several or meetings are being planned to hang around there to draw people in.
Edit: I just want to add also to the discussion of H-MG growing that if you’re involved with Conquest, ToA, Coalition, Unified Horde, Months End Brawl, and a few other things that H-MG is growing steadily and it is very noticeable. As an example, when Conquest did the server event in Uldum, Horde groups barely scratched 5-6 people per event, and barely filled an entire raid group of people.
In the Tropic Sunder campaign Horde in the neutral events actually outnumbered Alliance showing up, and each Horde event had between 15-25 people show up per. A massive improvement over Uldum by leaps and bounds, and as of right now there is a Horde only server event being planned with a lot of enthusiasm behind it. H-MG is growing and people are starting to find their niches that they want to fill with a lot of the older veterans of the server wanting to serve more as guides and administrators to help organize things and let newer characters and guilds showcase what they can bring to the community.
I wouldn’t know much about the population, as myself being very introverted/shy; makes it hard for me to meet/interact with people and I’m always missing stuff.
Never be afraid of asking questions then or even poking your heads into discord servers. People generally will be able to point you to places and information!
Oh, I wouldn’t even know where to start. Way too many links.
Try this one!
Don’t have to join all of them all at once if you feel that’s overwhelming! Just join one, even the one Mirch posted, and slowly dip your toes till you feel comfortable.
Ooo, thanks for the heads up! I can definitely see those as being some nice perks. Plus, the neutral tavern is right near by if people wanted to move back and forth, I suppose.
None of my Horde characters really have any business being in Orgrimmar, for the most part, so I find it a little difficult (to mentally resolve) RPing there. Maybe I’ll have to start hanging out in Dal and see who shows up!
Your friend is mistaken. Always experience it for yourself first before directing people one way or another. It’s common courtesy to those of us here actually wanting people to come poke in and see what there is to offer.
OP. The horde community may be smaller but it’s more tight knit. There are actually events across the server that are weekly that some of them host. A few guilds I’ve seen open their storylined events to others to promote inclusivity which is something the Alliance never does. I’ve been semi active here for about a year (due to my being an officer in an Alliance guild) and I can say that when I finally set the time aside to interact with Horde it’s been far better than most interactions on Alliance side. Though that is personal opinion/experience and it wont be the same for everyone at every given occasion. I recommend giving it a shot. Join one of he discs, talk to those who seem super helpful and experience what they’ve got going on
