Lemme just…slides this in here
Hey, I made it to this one! See me lurkin’ like a weirdo on the balcony lol
Edit: posted on wrong toon, whoops
like most of the posts say, Horde is active just…sleepy lol. I’ve seen some great MG-H turn outs at neutral events!
I wanted to post when I saw this thread 10 days ago but my authenticator broke (rip) and I couldn’t log into battle.net on Chrome; I think the other responses have done a great job to illustrate MG Horde’s current event activity, but I want to specifically address this part of the OP’s question for any lurkers:
I’m someone who has tried to get into red RP a dozen times over the last 6-ish years; I have tried to do so on MG and on WRA. I can definitively say that the character I’m posting on has been my most successful attempt; there are a myriad of reasons for this, most of them are personal, but the most pertinent is the level of public outreach that members of MG Horde’s community presently strives for.
There are discords with google calendar integrations, a strong forum presence (as you’ve seen already), and community events in-game that are advertised regularly. The result is that, even though this side of the server is much smaller than MG-A, there is a lot of potential for fun to be had.
This is a special contrast to where MG Horde was at the end of WoD, during Legion, and at the beginning of BFA; I’m sad to say that I don’t see many of the “flagship” guild tags from that period when I log on, but I do see a new community with consistent facetime hosting consistently grand events with an inclusive atmosphere and exciting opportunities to make friends for your characters.
Outside of the seasonal server event, MG Horde in WoD did not boast the level of interguild / public collaboration that we have now; in fact, it was very disparate and, even then, a lot of the forum posters at the time asserted that the best RP was locked to guilds. I believe the lattermost point will always be true, but the number of people who are inclusive to tagless characters in their plotlines or events is something to consider.
Also—If you come to MG-Horde, I recommend you entreat the population difference as a matter of not being able to be “picky” regarding who you want to interact with; a lot of people (myself included, tbh) take for granted that large, bustling centers like MG-A’s Stormwind or MG-H’s Orgrimmar have hundreds of people cycling through their RP hubs on the daily and willfully ignore large swathes of who is around them.
Every person you see at the Wyvern’s Tail or at public events / server campaigns matters; I would compare it to living in a small town, because you are more likely to remember each name that walks by routinely even if you don’t interact with them. The same will be said about your characters, if you roll one here.
Join the discord, follow the community calendars for their events, and don’t be afraid to wave at someone when you go to the bar; that’s how this part of the server will grow the most, I feel.
From what I’ve seen, Horde on MG tend to have their own fair share of events and a smaller community, but it’s also harder to get into if you’re not a social butterfly that wants to network with people to get in on all the new happenings, join discord servers, make your own RP, etc.
If you’re interested in events and specific guilds, you might enjoy it albeit the smaller numbers, but if you prefer spontaneous RP, greater variety and more people with TRP profiles, WRA seems to be way ahead, they even seem more active than MG-A. The population has definitely gotten better than WoD, but I don’t think it’s better than what it was in Legion. BFA caused a lot of burnout and Shadowlands is… well, Shadowlands so far.
I’d recommend checking prime time hours on both servers to make your decision.
Imma keep dragging that Horde/Neutral event calendar around for the new/shy/don’t know where to begin folk.
IT’S ALL RIGHT THERE

Even lurking the forum is cool because new ventures just getting started will post here.
