It isnt my personal beliefs. You act like everyone that played vanilla was mentally handicapped. Furor and Tigole from Fires of Heaven guild in Everquest 1 designed or helped designed all of the raids in Vanilla WoW.
Meaning, the best raiders available in mmorpgs were present and they also played druids. You guys act like druids were just fine…but no one could figure out how to play them.
No, they were not fine. They were not good tanks or dps. Not because I say so, but because they best players and game designers said so.
Keep flocking to fake private server numbers. Keep thinking you will build that spell power ret paladin that no one ever thought to build in vanilla, that feral druid that can put out warrior and rogue dps, while healing, innervating and tanking when the warrior dies…because the world needed 15 more years and a private server genius to discover what 800,000 other people couldnt see in vanilla.
This. The leveling meta from beta has shown that druids are great tanks while leveling, so make friends while you level and you’ll likely get a raid spot. That’s a lot more than what druid tanks had in vanilla.
Uh…No where has anything of the sort been said or even intimated.
I played from release… as a druid.
Who is “you guys”?
Druids? The others in this thread that don’t agree with you?
I feel like you’re up in arms against those “filthy private server players” and will dismiss anything that comes from that corner.
I have never played on private server but the way. I played all of vanilla, TBC, and most of wotlk (still have an active account and have dabbled in retail here and there since). I played in the beta and a bit in the stress tests.
Whoever “we” is… in this thread we have stated that druid tanking in early was vanilla was poor and that by 1.12 many of those issues were addressed. Unfortunately, by that point most people weren’t willing to give druid tanking a chance.
Deja vu.
Think this proves my point above. Whatever your beef with private server players no one has said anything about ret dps. No one has said anything about beating warriors and rogues in dps as feral. No one has said anything about healing or innervating as a tank (there is a decent build that will let you tank and then help heal on the fights where you aren’t tanking without respeccing though).
Kind feel like I’m the not one not being real here. You want to help druid tanks? Give constructive advice on their strengths and weaknesses. Point out the pros and cons… When they shine and when they don’t.
You’re just spouting venom (seemingly aimed at private server players) and not helping druids or the community.
I think you misconstrued that statement. I was trying to indicate that you are taking a “pics or it didn’t happen” approach to whether any druids tanked progression in vanilla.
I think that’s a bit… immature but that’s just my opinion.
I don’t have any pics as I play as a healer but maybe someone else will be able to help you out.
Edit: Also, I didn’t ask you for links to back up your claims. I asked where you found that information because I hadn’t seen any discussion about it in the druid channels I follow.
To b honest here. A lot of Paladin tanks even in burning crusade still stacked hard defense for a long time. The best Pally tanks I knew had a nice mix of both defense and spell power, and often times were mocked for it. But they stuck to their guns and sure enough it turned out SP pally tanks were good.
Sometimes the obvious isn’t obvious. People stay to tried and true metas and I understand that.
Look up Death’s Shadow in Magic the Gathering. All the cards were there for 3 years before somebody put them together. 3 whole years, and now it’s a staple deck in the format and has been for years.
Thats what happens when you cherry-pick things you want to respond to. Eventually they dont make sense when taken out of context.
Have fun doing what no one else has ever done in vanilla. The game really has needed someone to lead us out of the darkness of the bear druids 2 button threat rotation that was so complex none of us could figure it out 14 years ago.
A Tauren druid is a great tank. Not a fan of being a walking cowman and cat form is horrid. The differences between Night Elf and Tauren druid aren’t that great. If you have friends rolling Horde don’t feel adverse to going Tauren druid.
Let’s take a step back, and just be amigos here. It’s just a game. I am going to play a druid, and I’ll do just fine; not because I’ll be beating at any particular role another class plays, but because I’ll be available to all roles (and because I’m charming as hell).
Not everyone wants to be a rogue, mage or warrior, which is fine. If you are getting super rude to someone over your personal ego gospel opinion about numbers in wow, you’re doing it wrong.
