Hopefully this is the end of the failed lootbox system

They tried doing something like this with the tcg booster packs. That didn’t make it very far. I doubt this will fair any better.

I know I said there is more things to worry about. But I do think subjects that are an ongoing problem should take precedence over Loot boxes. But you know that don’t you?

Simple work around is to market the games to people older than kids.

Jeez, for crooks, politicians aren’t very crafty.

This is important legislation that will affect a lot of ActiBlizz’s existing titles, like BO4 and OW.

But this won’t impact WOW in any way, unless they get super vague with the definition of it, then technically WoW itself is a giant loot box, only you pay with time and effort instead of cash.

Loot boxes aren’t intrinsically a bad thing imo, Overwatch is a game I find handles the loot box system quite well, but the problem is other games who prey more on FOMO and are overbearing with it, like BO4 atm, or gatcha games like F:GO.

Most likely OW will just get a M rating instead of a T and reinforce stricter age requirements for both BO4 and OW, though it’s unlikely to change much.

WoW/Blizzard/Activision would have more psychologists than developers working for them these days to create the most addictive gameplay possible. Addiction keeps $ubs, WoW gameplay is not compelling, its brute force addiction. Look at Mythic plus end game design, an endless rng loot system you can never beat but compels you because if you stop you fall behind. Same as a slot machine at a casino. WoW is poison these days.

I thought parents were supposed to take care of his sort of thing not government?

It would make sense that it was banned and not being accesable to children in the first place?

Parents? You are so old fashioned.

Just a bit more libertarian in my old age.

Heaven forbid we have a general discussion in general discussion.

When we have a myriad of forums started about a million different topics, this particular one gets the attention of “blizz loyalists” that demand forums have to have something about wow.

Despite its failure (or maybe because of its failure) as a moba, I think HotS has one of the best loot/rewards systems. You have the opportunity to buy rewards directly or to buy loot boxes. Also everything can be earned completely free of charge at a fairly reasonable (or at least understandable) rate. Compared to most other games it’s a really good balance or in game currencies, real money purchases, and random and chosen rewards.

Playerbase didn’t bother to invest in the game, it was so easy to get everything for free.

Looked at the 40 most recently used topics. Didn’t see one that looked off topic.

if heroes of the storm wasn’t given the forced Blizzard babying treatment, and was a real MOBA, I would have probably put time into it for those reasons, and because I knew who the characters were for once

I wish I could fail like that.

Buy me a lot of nice things that failure could.

Blizzard games have always been for casuals. Why are you here?

Yeah having to pay RL cash for more storage is doing it the best.

Starcraft is not casual at all.

It’s pretty damn casual.

WoW “loot boxes” aren’t bought with cash, so this doesn’t affect WoW at all.
