Hooks for the next two allied races

No, alliance can have sethrak and ankoan both. If they’re going to keep giving AR’s then I’d like a cat race as well as a Fae race, like those in Bastion or Ardenweald, can’t recall which it is.

Imagine thinking people are mad at the dumb race that’s mechagnomes only because sethrak are a factor at all lol.

To be honest, all I want are playable Kyrian. They’re by far my favorite race in the game. I know it’s a strange one as they’re just blue humans, but I still think they’re awesome.

But what really bothers me is when I get a Sethrak person who crops up out of nowhere and says they need to “wait a turn” or something. Like this is some sort of queuing process and not a matter of the story waiting to support it.

(Commentary): Take this as just my opinion, but yes, I think Sethrak fans do deserve their Allied Race. Community perceptions are just that; perceptions. I’ve seen some supporters of Sethrak who are polite, friendly, helpful, and quite happy with Mechagnomes as well. The issue with communities is that it becomes easy to look at the most extreme and unpleasant individuals within it, and then paint the whole community that way. I can think of people on both side of the High Elf debate who really drive home that point. But I can also think of people like Starla who are more polite and tactful most of the time, or Talendrion who pours his time and energy into creative demonstrations that a lot of High Elf fans flock to.

(Commentary): I’d prefer to judge people rather than communities, at least when I can catch myself. I think Sethrak would make a great addition to the game, and if some people who hate Mechagnomes get satisfaction from that, well, at least that’s a few more players who are happy with the game. If they’re happily playing Sethrak, they’re spending less time bashing on Mechagnomes.

(Commentary): Granted maybe that’s an idealistic view, but it feels more like a logical one to me; Sethrak would be a fine addition to the game as an Allied Race. They’re unique and there is player interest. I’d rather have Sethrak than a race no one asked for.

The Drust were split and half of them are happily coexisting with Kul Tiras right now.

Just say the Drust are shorter than normal Vrykul (specifically down to a playable size) and with Garok Tul’s shenanigans on Shadowlands they feel obligated to take a more direct stance against them.

If Blizzard gave me the option to just delete Mechagnomes from time itself at the expense of also making it so Sethrak will never ever ever be playable I would hit that button in a heartbeat.

Mechagnomes are aberrations who should be exterminated, regardless of any other races that might or might not be.

How is it poor taste to say Sethrak should be Horde? Because it doesn’t line up with what you or other alliance players want? Please. Let people ask for what they want, you Alliance make it a habit as it is.

@extractor: Replied to wrong person.
I still disagree because I know for a fact that nearly everybody campaigning for sethrak are particularly nasty to them. I’ve done research, checked profiles, collected data and I’ve only found a handful of people who are sethrak fans and not like this compared to the ones who aren’t. And most of these people aren’t in the discord or in the legion of people primarily campaigning for them. Some I have even found to be the same person on alts. Some I would even argue are only supporting Sethrak cause they hate gnomes.

You seem like I very level headed person. I highly respect that. Maybe the problem is this then. The allied race slots. Blizzard set things up so there seemed to be some predefined allied races that there would be and this lead to animosity between certain people who wanted different things. Plus I also think mechagnomes are a lot better then people give them credit for and fit into the AR system well.

(Commentary): It’s not. I think they make more sense as Horde than Alliance, right now at least. They’re in Horde territory, their Loa was resurrected by the Horde, and they were largely saved by the Horde PC, and worked with the Vulpera to defeat the Faithless. I just think that Sethrak are a really good addition to the game, and whatever the Alliance gets with them, should be just as good, if not better to make up for the last two Allied Races the Alliance got.

(Commentary): Ouch.

Okay I agree! Maybe I jumped the gun on the response. I think alliance should get a good race too, that I’d be somewhat jealous of, thing is I’d like to play as a Jinyu/Ankoan too. I guess it takes all kinds

Saw your response so just going to reply anyway.

They are removing these slots in the shadowlands. There is no more"x race coming in place of another" Its just all about if the race is playable or not. If only they did this from the beginning.

(Commentary): I feel like Jinyu/Ankoan would be best paired with a race like Gilgoblins. Mind you I also feel that Blizzard needs to look at Allied Races and cull some into customization for the main races at this point. I’d like more unique Allied Races, such as Vulpera or Zandalari. Unfortunately they really are the only unique ones. Kul Tirans could just be made into an alternate body option for Humans at this point. Dark Irons into Dwarves, Mechagnomes into Gnomes, Lightforged Draenei into Draenei… Void Elves are the outlier, but with the recent customization changes, just make Blood Elves neutral.

(Commentary): I suppose the only real issue at that point would be racials and race tags, but why not let players select from a pool of racials, or optional tags? More options are always better!

Ouch.

I would like to think I and a few others are deserving of them. :broken_heart:

I adore the Sethrak. :persevere:

And I would like to think we don’t deserve to be punished because a bunch of entitled jerks.

Even if I’m prepared for disappointment.

Do wish I could edit the Sethrak megathread’s original post to remove all that hateful nonsense. Especially since I haven’t seen the OP post anything in months and have sort of taken it upon myself to lead the thread. In what I think is a more positive direction.

no

I really hope that Blizzard is done creating allied races for awhile. I think that if they keep adding them every expansion it would get ridiculous pretty fast.

I just want the snakes. Everything else I have no real stake in but do support people in their passions.

Think they’d be fine Horde. Or Neutral. :woman_shrugging:

I think Horde would see Unshackled / Gilgoblins first. Given all the dialogue they have with the Horde players when they’re in Najatar. Also, Neri, Poen, Vim, Mak, and Pronk are all in Durotar by the docks now.

Why would they be there if there wasn’t some kind of future interaction with the Horde? It seems super convenient. Plus they use the Goblin model so they won’t have any new skeleton to worry about really.

If it wasn’t for people like you and fezzy(Bagzak is also another really good one) my perception of the Sethrak fanbase would be almost entirely bad. You are a very good person and I know you are sincere and mean well. I think steps should be taken to curb that kind of behavior and this goes for any allied race community. I will say this. 99% of the people who play wow don’t actively use this forum and chances are that if Sethrak was playable, the vast majority of the fanbase wouldn’t have any special beef with mechagnomes. I wanted gilgoblins and believe me. I am not happy that we got vulpera instead. However dispite that I am not making threads trashing vulpera and I do agree it is objectively a good race for the horde. Even when I express that I would have rathered gilgoblins I don’t take the disgusting furries angle.

How about no they done added alot new races whether you like them or not. how about they just focus on something else for a bit

You kind of did though? You were very aggressive before the vulpera got added, and you made several threads across several alts campaigning not just gilgoblins, but against vulpera.
Then when people said they rather wanted vulpera , and most of the time not even in a mean way. You started making threads “Why do the vulpera fanbase hate kelfin” etc. You also posted on multiple alts within the same thread.
I don’t think you really have any true ill-will, I think you just have a problem with a lot of people not enjoying the races you like.
Also, thinking a race should not be added because people within the fanbase are toxic are not a great stance to have. Try to look at it objectively and see if it would improve the game by bringing a new interesting option, or make a large number of people happy.
Because if people are not deserving sethrak because they’ve been bad on the forums, then you’re not deserving of gilgoblins either.

That was a long time ago. I am very different now. I was aggressive because I was afraid. I wanted to see them playable and when people were saying that Vulpera would be playable I didn’t believe that gilgoblins weren’t getting enough credit and were more possible then many believe. When I first started talking about them, I was met with a lot of aggression too. I felt like these guys were trying to silience anyone who port forth the idea that gilgoblins would be playable which is why I had a huge problem with them.

Because if people are not deserving sethrak because they’ve been bad on the forums, then you’re not deserving of gilgoblins either.

I am just one person though and I have matured a lot since then. Nearly every gilgoblin fan on the forums has always been very nice and kind to others. In the case of these Vulpera and Sethrak supporters though, there is dozens upon dozens of them who have done some pretty bad things. Plus I wasn’t really malicious. I wasn’t going around calling Vulpera an aweful race and a waste of an AR slot. I even made a vulpera myself when they came out. I just had some bad ways about showing support.
