Hooks for the next two allied races

I’m pretty sure doing the Highmountain took as much time if not less as the current new tauren customization. Now multiply that for all races. Specially if they do new customization for ARs.

Maybe is not as big deal as vulpera or kul’tirans who are extensive works but in any case it would still take a large amount of time , they won’t be doing 2 expac features at the same time. Same as how WoD only gave us new character models.

You know what, why did I even bother making the thread. I had hoped to start some thoughtful discussion and it turned into a bunch of nay-saying from elves and one horned elf.

Yeah, because nothing you’ve said makes any sense. Maybe if you had actually focused on races that are part of SL, it would’ve been more effective. But two BfA races for SL is completely illogical.

Not really. Mag’har were from 2 xpacs ago and they were added. Dark Iron Dwarves were literally from vanilla and haven’t been featured in anything since.

So an allied race can come from any race on Azeroth or Outland/Draenor as long as there is a reason.

Ankoan/Jinyu have pretty good reason to be added to the alliance.

(Commentary): Not to step on the toes of people who like Ankoan/Jinyu, but I just can’t take this suggestion seriously, ever, and I think it’s in poor taste to pair a popular request as a Horde race (Sethrak) with something that will be lukewarm at best for the Alliance. The next Alliance Allied Race needs to be a big win after getting Kul Tirans and then Mechagnomes, neither of which were major winners. Yes, I am aware of the irony of typing that on a Mechagnome. I’m fully aware most Alliance players don’t like the race I choose to play. I respect that opinion and understand it as well. The Alliance deserves better.

The real question is what could be added to the alliance that makes logical sense other than Jinyu/Ankoan? Vykrul don’t seem to have any connection other than they were proto humans.

And there’s absolutely zero storyline in SL for either race. They made Mag’har and DI part of BfA. They didn’t make Sethrak and Ankoan part of SL.

(Commentary): Unit Exacitor is in favor of Dragons. At this point they’re not really as OP as they used to seem, especially now that they’ve been de-powered. Dragons typically have longer-standing friendly relations with Alliance races and organizations, and a far less pleasant history with the Horde and its races. They’d also be a significant step up from Mechagnomes and Kul Tirans; a suitably hype-worthy race to make up for a very lackluster showing thus far. Only the Dark Iron Dwarves are universally agreed upon to be a good addition to the Alliance, and they came at the expense of Wildhammers.

I think I would much rather get more heritage armor for the races that haven’t gotten theirs yet. I can wait for a new allied race until we get all of those.

Why do you play a mechagnome if you think they are bad?

(Commentary): I personally love Mechagnomes. I think they’re very well done. There’s a lot of subtle detail about them that is amazing! That said, in the course of playing a logic-driven Mechagnome I have to admit that, in all honesty compared to the Vulpera, they’re simply not very unique. If all the customization options for Mechagnomes had been saved and given to Gnomes for Shadowlands, it wouldn’t have felt odd in the slightest.

Mag’har and DI were added because they needed orc and dwarf ARs given the main races were human/troll.

We’re getting those in 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3, or 9.0.5, 9.1.5 and 9.2.5

Yeah no. Her rebirth was being prevented by Zandalari. Mueh’zala is kind of irrelevant here.

I’d think we’d get races actually connected to the Shadowlands in the Shadowlands expansion.

Gotcha. I don’t think it would have been as much an issue if we had gotten gilgoblins instead. Vulpera are sort of the race that is the odd one out in so far as ARs go.

(Commentary): I agree. Mechagnomes aren’t bad in a vacuum. Unfortunately, they were paired with Vulpera, and also followed Kul Tirans, who themselves were paired with Zandalari. It was two big wins for the Horde in terms of request, desired aesthetic, uniqueness, etc… and two big losses for the Alliance. Humans but fat, and Gnomes with mechanical limbs, just don’t compare unfortunately. I say that objectively. Despite how much I love Mechagnomes, the timing of their introduction was very detrimental.

But honestly. Is the sethrak fanbase even really deserving of their AR request? I will tell you something that has been requested for a long time. Gnome players have requested more relevance and more content for a while. They got this big time this expansion. Mechagnomes fans have been almost entirely nothing but civil and kind since the beginning. Sethrak fans on the other hand:

  1. Won’t even acknowledge the existence of mechagnome fans.
  2. Have persistently and consistently bashed the race and its fanbase. Trying to write them off as only wanted by sethrak haters and many horrible things.
  3. Have spread so many nasty ideas about mechagnomes that are often not taking into consideration the whole picture.

I personally see the inclusion of mechagnomes as kind of a victory against the gnome haters and the thing is that most of the sethrak fanbase is like this. Nearly every sethrak fan I have met on the forums and in their discord has said something horrible or nasty about mechagnomes that was often unfounded. I really don’t think these people deserve their request honored.

Keep in mind also. This is what the OP of the Sethrak megathread has to say about them.

Sorry, still Ethereals over Fish people for Alliance.

Mechagnomes are definitely a solid Allied Race. They bring something new to the table.

And, I know you’re aware of this, but the main reason Sethrak fanboys are mad at Mechagnomes is because they stole their only (slim) chance at becoming an Allied Race until like, 10.0 or something.

Very unlikely they will ever be a playable race. Years will go by and in all likeliness, they will probably be forgotten. This is what happens when you get your hopes up for something that is very obviously never going to happen. After how nasty they were and still are to mechagnome fans, I don’t really sympathize with them. There is a few sethrak supporters who aren’t mean to mechagnomes, but they are mostly the minority unfortunately.

No Light zombies. NO, no, no no no.

Lightforged Forsaken are a dumber idea than Void Elves.

Enough with the “pulled out of thin air” Allied races.
