Honor System Decay Equation

I’ve been seeing a lot of mathematically inept individuals in this section, primarily targeted at those individuals that think the honor bug was a slight delay in time.

For those that don’t know, to calculate simple decay you can use the general form:

F = P(1-d) where d is the decay in decimal
repeating this for N weeks can be generalized with:

F = (1-d)^n(r-(1/d)(w)) + (1/d)(w)

F = Future rank in RP
d = decay in decimal (10% = 0.1)
n = number of weeks
w = rate of RP earned per week (for example, you estimate you will earn 12500 per week in bracket 13 or bracket 2 depending on the way you perceive brackets)
r = current rank in RP

Example problems:
How long would it take to get to rank 14 from 10,000 RP in bracket 14?
Solving for N yields
N = log( (F - (1/d)(w))/(r-(1/d)(w)) ) / log (1-d)

SoM variables:
d = 0.1
r = 10000
F = 60000
w = 13000

N = log( (60000 - (1/0.1)(13000))/(10000-(1/0.1)(13000)) ) / log (1-0.1)
= 5.11 = 6 weeks

Use the same process to determine the time it takes to get rank 12. It’s 5 weeks minimum. (N=4.6)

People were rank 12 within two resets. That’s not a slight “1 week” miscalculation.

You can be rank 12 week 3.

Maybe you should brush up on your math.

This calculator agrees with me

Decay is 40%

At 10% decay, and having an initial RP of 0
N = log( (50000 - (1/0.1)(13000))/(0-(1/0.1)(13000)) ) / log (1-0.1)
N = 4.6

In bracket 14.

At 40% decay this would yield a greater time length, so your initial assessment of “2 weeks” is based on a new set of variables that can be used in the equation.

Double RP assumes you earn 26,000 RP, 40%

N = log( (50000 - (1/0.4)(26000))/(0-(1/0.4)(26000)) ) / log (1-0.4)
N = 2.8 = 3 Weeks.

You can be Rank 12 in 3 weeks. Like I said, learn to maths.

You should learn to read OP.
Perhaps you would develop the knowledge to use the formula

40% decay, double RP > (26,000 RP per week)

N = log( (50000 - (1/0.4)(26000))/(0-(1/0.4)(26000)) ) / log (1-0.4)
N = 2.8 = 3 Weeks.

Not two weeks, as initially mentioned by you.

I’ll spell it out for you:

Week 1 = 26000 RP
Week 2 = 52000 RP - 10400 RP decay = 41,600 RP
Week 3 = 67,600 RP - 16640 RP decay = 50,960 RP and rank 12

You clearly don’t understand my post.
You should look at my previous post for clarification on your ineptitude.

I clearly said 3 weeks.

First of all you didn’t understand the original post seeing as you told me to “brush up on my math” (ironic)

Then I showed you that the general equation I provided can be use to assess and calculate any RP, any decay as shown by my previous post.

Then you modify your initial post to three weeks from two. You seem very incompetent.

NA forum, checks out

I didn’t change my post. I said 3.

The fact is if you get standing 1 you can be R12 in 3 weeks.

If you aren’t standing 1 it will take longer.

That’s how earning RP works, yes.
You’re getting somewhere.

So it was a 1 week error then because people who accidentally got R12 this week will just get it next week…

Can you post where blizzard said decay and RP are both doubled?

They are both doubled. Even the calculator I linked has them doubled for SoM.

that doesn’t mean anything.
Did someone assess the data to determine it?

I recall a Jay Wilson talking about doubling something some years ago

It only works out if you double RP and decay. Otherwise it wouldn’t be 6 weeks to R14.
