Honor Points reset to 0 after serving 8 day ban

As the title says.

copped an 8 day ban due to afk over this past AV weekend. pretty sure its a bogus ban caused by mass report, for defending dreks room. either way the bans lifted now but my 60,000+ honor for the season has been reset to 0. there’s no mention of this in the suspension email and the vast majority of those points were earned prior to the weekend.

any1 heard of this being a thing? the punishment seems disproportionate to the crime and blizzard is discrediting up to 100 hours of honor farming before the AV weekend.

I already served the 8 day ban why does my honor need to be reset to 0 too? seems harsh.

Edit: guys the discussion is great n all, just want to remind you that im not appealing a ban, i already served the 8 days so thats fine, im just a little confused why i lost 60k honor aswell. i would of gained a maximum of 10-15k honor during the weekend, i didnt spam queues much and just played here n there over the weekend.

If you feel this was done in error then you should post your story over in the Customer Support Forum so that a CM can take a look at what happened.

bad luck bro, guess you’ll just have to afk av again next weekend to cap out

Of course I read it. I just don’t believe it.

Lying to the forums doesn’t get him anything.

Reporting in PvP has been questionably for quite some time since some people really are trying to defend to ensure a win, but people are quick to report anyone defending because also many people do try to AFK farm. We’ve increasingly heard people getting caught up in bad reports across the game, such as real players doing Strat paladin farming get caught up with bot bans.

OP, the only thing you can do is appeal what happened to your account as many times as it takes. You’ll probably have to keep doing it for a while if what you said is accurate. You, as you’ve seen, won’t get any sympathy from the forums since if you really did cheat any level of punishment is acceptable to them, including up to losing your first born, and if you really didn’t they won’t believe Blizzard could make this kind of mistake.

Save yourself the time if you actually did cheat, but stay on it if you didn’t. From most people’s talks on the forums if you appeal enough you eventually get a real person to review your case. Plenty of people come here claiming wrongful actions against them and later come back saying it got restored.

Anyone who plays that amount of battlegrounds and doesn’t record his gameplay for proof he wasn’t cheating is a moron.

The devs are ridiculously over zealous. You get reported too many times, they do this. It’s no wonder the subs are in a downward spiral. I bet many players hit by account abuse do not come back. I too recently got hit for 8d and robbed of about 50k honor. There was no justification for this crap. I played in all my matches, but many trash trolls in chat were saying they’d report me just because they’re jerks. I guess that’s all it takes for YOU to get wrecked.

After you get wrecked, you are then left with a worthless support staff. All you’ll get are useless copy/paste ticket responses where no Fs are given. Here’s the thing, GMs reviewing these don’t even know the rules of the game. They’ve told me this themselves when I repeatedly asked about dropping the brewfest drill in BGs. They said “we don’t know.” “Can you ask someone that does or actually suspends accounts then?” “We can’t contact the dev team.” Wait a minute here, when people submit appeals, YOU are the people that review them. How can you do that if you don’t even know the rules of the game?

Another theme is that they’ll repeatedly refuse to even tell you why you’re suspended and direct you to a useless email with no information in it (assuming one was sent at all). “We can’t do that for privacy and security reasons.” IT IS YOUR ACCOUNT. YOU ARE THE ONE PAYING FOR IT. THERE IS NO ONE ELSE’S PRIVACY OR SECURITY BEING PUT AT RISK BY ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS.

Awful devs and garbage support staff. I have a ton of tickets I could share the posts in but I doubt anyone cares that much. I’m just going to get responses saying “wrecked cheater lul,” the same guilty before proven innocent mentality the devs have.

You cheat - you get cheated. Simple life lesson

Happens a lot when people get actioned for something they did.

Except you have no way of knowing that. The only two things you actually know is that he was actioned against, and he posted about it. You have no knowledge on the legitimacy of his guilt because you don’t actually have the data to review. You are simply putting your faith into Blizzard’s investigation team as to handling the reports appropriately.

A surprising number of people will get on these forums, complain about being actioned, and then go on to describe exactly why they rightly actioned.

“I wasn’t AFK I was just watching netflix on my second monitor”

“I wasn’t being a toxic dbag in chat, here’s the screen shots of me be a toxic dbag to prove it”

And so forth.

When there have been legitimate systemic issues with people getting banned those actually get addressed and impact more than one person.
