Honor level

i recall doing pvp stuff like bg / rbg / wq in legion and being up-to-date with the honor level each patch, ending the xpac with the final reward (a title i think?), which was reasonable at the time. however, with the change to the system in bfa, it seems that:

  1. i’ve barely gained any honor levels, even though i do pvp activities more actively now than i did then (i’ve also remained subbed and haven’t really taken a break throughout bfa / sl)
  2. it seems my honor level reset to a lower level and now every time i reach a breakpoint, i’m just rewarded with something i already had… and i’m not even close to the final reward that i had before (currently level 273, and level 300 rewards the title)
  3. there doesn’t seem to be a good source of getting honor like the tower wq in legion, unless i’m missing something here.

after searching around, there seem to be similar posts scattered throughout the forums, but nothing has been mentioned since late 2020 (similarly on reddit). i’m wondering if there’s been a change since then (which is why there’s been no posts), or if there’s an efficient way to do this that i’m unaware of. i’d like to get the pet / mount from the level 400 and 500 honor levels, but it seems a bit silly that it’s now 3+ years since the honor level reset and i’m nowhere close to them (and in a way, behind where i previously was at the end of legion).

just to make it clear, i don’t mind a reasonable grind. perhaps, something that’s achievable with casual play through the course of an entire expansion. with maybe some catch up mechanics later on for new players. this particular one seems quite impossible, though. as some people have pointed out, there do exist players with very high honor levels and have obtained the rewards i’m seeking, but it also seems that these players had multiple alts during legion to start off bfa with a very high honor level (which doesn’t seem to be the intent of the re-design). so, i’m looking for reasonable ways to complete these goals. cheers!

there are plenty of ways to get honor from actual pvp.

The only real way is to grind honor in bgs man. The 500 honor level mount isn’t for the “casual” player to get, it’s for the ones who pvp and pvp a lot. As far as I know there aren’t any easy ways to get honor levels anymore either, it’s just planting yourself in BGs day after day.

On the bright side, you get to plant yourself in BGs day after day.

I really wish you had two honor levels - a cumulative one, and a per-expansion Honor level. You did WQs in Legion so now you’re at a 1402 honor level? It’s absurd.

iirc, someone did the math and to get P25 by the end of the expac from the WQs alone, you would have to do them all over the course of the entire expac, never missing a single one. a few players did it, and by a few, i can recall only one. but lets be real, if you hit P25 in legion on multiple toons, you were doing it pvping, legion was very alt friendly for pvpers.

Sorry, what’s P25?

RIP Alt Friendliness.

before honor levels there was prestige, and it was capped at 25 or 26

yes, i agree that pvp is (and should be) the way of accumulating honor. but as others have pointed out, the current revamp to the system means that if you accumulated honor in legion (by whatever means) on a few alts, you would have started out at some very high honor level. by comparison, those who started getting honor post-legion accumulate at a rate that’s extremely slow, and have to re-accumulate rewards they already received in legion (not sure if this is some exceptional case? but this is what i’m experiencing).

to put things into context, i am not averse to pvping (i do bgs at least every other day on multiple characters, and at least complete the oribos weekly bg / epic bg quests). my query is more along the lines of if there’s a more efficient way of getting honor outside of just doing bgs - which according to the replies now, doesn’t seem to be the case, unfortunately.

yep, they screwed up the conversion, most people who only play one toon had to regrind stuff.

Legion devs were good

current devs not so good

A lot of people concentrated on their main rather than on alts, as we had been told prestige and honor earned would always be character linked. They lost out big time in the conversion. The world quests that gave the most honor in Legion were the free for all ones. I was already up to less than 100 even though I had done at least some Prestige on several characters. Doing around the clock for a month brought me up to the point where I would not have to re-earn past my previous rewards. That would have been incredibly annoying.

During BfA I did 110 PvP on an Alliance character spamming bgs until I got to 500.
