Honestly pathetic

… For pretty much everything that is covered within the rules. They’re quite broad yes to catch offensive behaviour but a lot of us go by without a single penalty whatsoever in playing WoW everyday.

From firsthand testimonies from players who got banned here, we can be 99% confident we both know that is not true.

Edit:

QED.

The report system is not automated. If you were penalised and think it is in error please appeal.

Muted? If you mean silenced, then that means enough unique accounts reported your chat in-game and a GM looked at those reports and applied a silence. Prior to the GM silencing your account, there is a temporary squelch and that’s the only automated part.

As for any other account actions such as suspensions or bans, those would not be automated. Especially when you’re actioned for language.

As for it being “anything” that gets you into trouble, most players are able to play and chat without receiving any such actions because they follow the rules.

If you wish to appeal an account action, you’ll need to open a ticket.

That’s not even a little true.

Can’t fix something that doesn’t exist.

To be blunt on the matter - you’d have said far worse then what was posted here, given the fact that the GMs who go over the logs that are reported see what was said. No, they don’t action folks for harmless things.

More times then not, folks who come to the CS forum for chat related account actions often and will downplay what they said to make their outlandish actions seem less worse.

If you are being toxic, and are reported blizzard can and will most likely take action against your account.

We all have agreed to the rules of the game and are expected to follow them.

Just a word of advice, I would adjust that tone. Trolling the forums is best to be avoided, especially here in Customer Support.

Also, if you have been silenced in game, you can appeal it to double check to see if Blizzard hasn’t made a mistake. But that is about all you can do.

Since you included masked profanity there, which is against the rules, yes

Yes, this is toxic behavior and will be actioned every time.

No.

Yes. All profanity, even masked and abbreviated, is explicitly against the rules and will be actioned every time.

This is far too broad to give you any kind of answer. “Common tongue” to you may be extremely offensive, while “common tongue” to others may be respectful and not toxic.

Making these strawman generalizations isn’t a game that Blizzard plays. All reports are looked at, and penalties are applied if the rules were broken.

It makes perfect sense. Blizzard has set rules that every player must follow. If you break the rules, you will be actioned for it.

If you don’t want to follow the rules, cancel your subscription and uninstall the game. Maybe another game will welcome your toxicity, but this game ain’t it.

No, penalties are usually applied for saying fairly specific things that violate our Code of Conduct. In your case, it’s a little bit of toxic language, but mostly the use of profanity.

For the most part, people seem to be reporting the right amount. I’d even say they could report a bit more to catch some of the behaviors that a lot of folks seem to think are okay. To say something needs fixed would indicate that it is broken and that simply doesn’t appear to be the case. You had chat that violated our Code of Conduct, it was reported and verified and a penalty applied in accordance of our policies.

I fail to see how standing up and upholding the policies that you agreed to abide by would be spineless, Illidariah, but to each their own.
