Honest question

I keep getting silenced on these forums for voicing my opinions about stuff. They always say see code of conduct yada yada it falls under harassment. Now my question is does blizz CMS or mods or who ever makes these decisions just make up the definitions of words to fit a narrative so they can hand out silences? I know yall gona say their site their rules not arguing that im saying when They say its cuz you said a dev was an idiot in a post and thats harassment…

now websters defines harassment as - to annoy persistently

(2) to create an unpleasant or situation for especially by uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct

this is something I really want clarified because TOS operates on rule of law thus definitions for terms are important. I requested a Manger call me but I got the typical response that we acted correctly we wont bother talking to you.

I am making this post in Customer support cus I feel as a customer we deserve clarification on what definitions are used for the words in the TOS. I would really like an apology from blizzard and I still want a manager to contact me. I waited longer then my silence for the ticket to even get answered and like normal they waited till I just logged out to make food. I was never even able to talk to anyone.

Well, perhaps you need to look at what you are saying and how you are saying it.

i will never say im am the nicest person all the time and I am quite passionate about stuff. Thats why I am here asking what the deal is cuz all they ever do is say look at TOS code of conduct and I do and I never have broke any of it. So what is the standards they set

Their definition is wholly irrelevant. The only definition that matters is Blizzard’s, as you’ve stated. Stop running afoul of their policies (such as publicly chastising developers-- that’s generally a bad idea all around).

Not what this forum is for, to start with. And the second part of that will never happen, because people love to find loopholes.

Probably not going to happen either, but we’ll see.

Definitely not going to happen.

Given that Classic just released and added some additional wait time, this is normal.

Not Blizzard’s fault-- they don’t have cameras installed in your home to know your every move.

Putting in an appeal isn’t going to get someone to talk to you about it, plea your side or ask anything related to it. Along with that, a manager isn’t going to step in on this as they’re not going to give you want you want because you talk to one.

im asking for a manager cuz its repeated actions. Its gotten to the point were I feel not safe to voice my opinions about wow. almost as if… im being harassed

Like I said, it’s how you are saying it.

I can see Vrakthris typing away… you are gonna get a response, but I have a feeling it’s not what you are wanting to hear.

People voice their opinions about the game all the time, and it’s rare that we see action taken against them.

Given that knowledge alone, there’s more to the story than you’re letting on. Almost like you’re intentionally picking wording that isn’t appropriate for their forum.

WEll, a lot of people disappear with the dev/changes all the time on the forum. So there’s something different you’re doing to make yourself stand out from the rest.

no honestly I really am not going out of my way at all half the time the forums wont let me say what i want to say and I have to re type it. I struggle in real life with communications some times and well same on forums and basically I am brutally honest and say exactly what I think. Anyone that knows me knows this and well its a double edged sword so to speak

Sorry Karen, there are no managers here.

Keep discussions relevant and don’t respond to the trolls.

You called a developer an idiot and you think that you are the one who deserves an apology? Can I just ask you to think that through carefully please?

I see therapists for ptsd and stuff and to work on how to deal with people but what is really hard for me is when I dont understand what is going on. Thats why I am asking. Blizz just likes to send the general see code of conduct but they dont say what in code of conduct or how it applies or anything like that. This is something I deal with in my ptsd appointments believe it or not

Our goal isn’t to silence people trying to post, Kattrika. Contrary to some villainous image some people may have we aren’t sitting around cackling about how long we may have silenced or suspended someone.

Naming calling of any kind of considered Trolling and Harassment, which is visible in OUR terms of use.

Trolling:

  • Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
  • Making non-constructive posts
    Harassment:
  • Insultingly refer to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people

I appreciate that you may want to look up websters definition, but their guidelines aren’t the factor here.

We don’t tend to open a dialog about moderation. It really is fairly simple in most cases to avoid violating our policies.

Going over your last several penalties…

Using an inappropriate term involving a body part to color your statement would be the violation. In the same thread you also called out our Devs. You then called them idiots in a later post.

You can make your point about the issue without attacking the people involved, if you had done so, in addition to removing the anatomy reference, the post would have been fine.

That seems to be the trend in the posting I’ve found. The need to add colorful terms to help you get your point across and insulting others, both players and employees.

If we made a mistake we’re generally happy to apologize for the inconvenience we may have caused, but I don’t see any errors in the actions that have been taken. In fact, given the number of them, that you have posting privileges at all is a wonder as you should be on a final warning if not permanently silenced by this point. As I said though, we do try to allow folks to be part of the community as best as we can and tend to be fairly forgiving overall.

Okay, here is a tip for you. Please do not call people idiots. It is always rude and will usually upset people.

I hope this doesn’t come off snarky because I don’t mean it that way. Since you said you have difficulties, this is meant to be helpful with that.

As someone who deals with ‘stuff’ as well, it’s on us to make appropriate comments and abide by rules. If you find you’re making repeated violations because you’re passionate and can’t ‘filter’, take a step back. Re-read what you write, assess if it sounds inappropriate, etc. Your therapist should have given you steps to take; if not, make a point to ask how you can express yourself in the best manner.

Good luck on future posting

Thank you for taking the time to answer not quite sure what body part comment was tbh cuz I dont remember a lot from day to day of trivial stuff like that but I appreciate the fact that you answered in a timely manor. I really do speak colorfully in person so I dont really think about it. To be honest Thralls balls is one of my fav things to yell some times when stuff happens and that gets really confused looks lol but anyway I appreciate you taking the time and not just saying oh hes taking about moderation and 404ing the thread

You are communicating in a text based medium. You have time to self edit before you press “reply”.
