Honest Maintenance Schedules

Considering the estimate is rarely correct, you can ignore that part, as I originally stated.

Blizzard should publish their new maintenance schedule:

Tuesdays starting at 7am PDT and concluding whenever

FYI one blue post on forums suggesting that “oh that page doesn’t work anymore” is not an appropriate response, again from a freaking billion dollar company.

It is a page that is labeled “REALM STATUS” that I can reach with 2 clicks from the main page of the website. If it was retired, it wouldn’t exist anymore. You are pointing out to the chaotic state of blizzard organization/disinformation and adding to OPs point.

They say extended as a courtesy. But things don’t work out as planned all the time. I’m guessing you yell at employees at Starbucks for not having your coffee ready in 30 seconds?

I don’t, because they didn’t tell me it would take 30 seconds. See the difference?

Resulting to ad homs because I called you out for being a dictionary troll

I don’t. You expect things to go smoothly and “on time,” yet fail to realize things can happen to extend things. So I can fully see you yelling about things being late…even the petty ones.

This is just purely an ignorant comment. We just want them to stop the insanity of telling us it’ll be 2/3 hours then extending it every single week. Just say it’ll be down for 5 hours and bring it up early if they can. If past 5 hours, a simple “hey guys we’re sorry but having some issues. We will get servers up ASAP, sorry for any inconveniences and we appreciate your business”. You know, like any normal company would do.

I actually discovered this morning that is quite annoying and I had to try 4 different search terms on my phone, to find out if maintenance was extended this morning. I don’t use Twitter. It shouldn’t have been that difficult to find the info.

Also, I get that things happen. The “extended” has been happening week after week after week recently though and THAT is what’s getting so frustrating. Why not just schedule more time for a while since things aren’t going well on the backend right now?

I’m feeling extra annoyed because I though we were past this. For months Blizz was scheduling it for 4-6 hours and then it would be up in 3 or 4. It just leaves me with a better feeling about the service.

If you knew that when you looked at the app where it stated about maintenance and saw the word “approximately,” knowing the definition, then you would not have to be trolled by the dictionary.

i agree with your frustrations on the matter BUTT we all pay for the game and it isn’t cheep and i expect the game to work properly and well. so if that means the maintenance takes longer oh well it just makes for a better playing experience. and i want what I’m paying for patients equals outcome.

They should start giving Scotty estimates and stop trying to meet Laforge estimates.

Yes, I’d rather be told it could take all day, but end up only being 30 minutes. I used to be a CSR for a vehicle repair shop. I would give my customers an exaggerated wait time over the actual wait time. As the OP said “under promise and over deliver” is much better than constant delays.

as they did once, they can compensate with game time. simple fix

I really don’t think they know when they’re going to come up because their processes are so antiquated and/or lacking entirely that it’s not feasible for them to produce an accurate estimate because they’re more generally incompetent from a develop/test/release perspective.

You can go now. Grown ups are talking.

as far as i’m concerned being down for more than 4 hours = a whole day since most people dont have access to all 24 hours in a day to play.

Double is pretty far out side what one would consider approximately.
