My friend how many mmo’s have $15 monthly subs? I’ll make it easier since this answer destroys your narrative and ask a follow-up: How many live service games charge any monthly sub at all?
How many mmos charge $25 for a race change? Are competitors higher or lower? I’ll wait while you do your research. Or $25 to change servers. What do you think the profit is on $25 server transfer for Blizzard? If your answer is below $24.99 then you’re lying.
The issue isn’t Blizzard failing to meet schedules, the issue is their current development process that prioritizes meeting preset dates over quality.
As long as they feel they can get away with pushing incomplete and barely tested content into the live game (with the internal expectation they can just finish and fix through ongoing maintenance), this is the new norm.
TWW was clearly rushed, incomplete, and barely tested; the never-ending ongoing maintenance is the result.
They aren’t lying, they are making their best guesstimate on how long it’s going to take, which is why they give you an “expected to be up” notice. There are many factors that you don’t know about, I don’t know about, that happens during maintenance. If I have learned one thing in 47 years of life, the more the systems in anything progress, the more that can go wrong and the more they fail. Just learn patience, go play something else or do something else. Life is not worth wasting on being annoyed on something as trivial as game maintenance.
You would think by now, since they can’t ever do anything right, 20 years later, they would be doing maint. when it isn’t during peak hours. But, it makes much more sense to inconvenience thousands of players, rather than a few workers who would work that one night a week at an odd time to do it then.
The longer this company stays around, the worse it gets and this launch has been the worst with daily maint that I can think of minus maybe WoD due to DDOS and other nonsense.
Edit: Remember those days of LIVE Maint? I do. They didn’t last long, did they?
People will complain no matter what day or time maintenance is on.
Do we want the game not to work because of peoples demands and impatience, because it would hurt them to do other things while devs do their jobs they were hired to do?
Why would they do that when they can just gaslight you by ninja updating the notices with new end times so they can pretend nothing was extended and all was planned?
Especially when there is a literal army of white knights that will charge in to the mutli-dollar companies defence at the slightest hint of criticism, as if their whole life and validation relies on simping for a corporation and their corporate overlords?
I think you already know the answer, white-knighting aside. It doesn’t matter if they half-assed communicated across 50 platforms, never seeming like they know what’s going on with their own products and services is the problem.
What are you talking about? I don’t work for Blizzard, never have. None of you are my “customers”.
I am an old retired person sitting in my living room 3000 miles away from Blizzard. Making a stew in the instant pot, running some dishes and laundry. I post when I want, if I want, how I want - provided I don’t break the forum rules by calling people names.
