Holy smokes... I like Delves more than Mythic+

At first, I didn’t but dear god they made Mythic+ such a sweat fest that really feels odd this time around. Idk, just feels like they really tuned Mythic+ in a way that has no sense of flexibility or fun. It’s just this linear sprint everytime from start to finish, with builds that reflect that. 90% of groups are stressed, with many giving up the moment one thing goes wrong due to the strenuous timed nature of Mythic+. Along with % requirements and all that jazz on tanks.

Meanwhile, Delves have managed to just hit that sweet spot. A variety of rewards from toys, cosmetics, crests, item upgrades and more from your chests. Neat things like the maps to get extra rewards. A difficulty spike that both adds engaging gameplay and mechanics, accompanied with a true dungeon crawling experience that isn’t timed. Plus flexible groups, which allows you to do them whenever and however you want. Brann even helps with letting you have some fun and flexibility with your own build so it isn’t just a meta sweatfest. A lot of room for creativity there.

Idk, just feels like with the way Delves vs Mythic+ is going, Blizzard have figured out a superior gameplay loop with Delves. Both rewarding, with flexible difficulties, and dynamic groups which reward dungeon crawling.

Delves are much easier than M+ while giving good rewards.

Of course they are popular.

But fortunately, M+ is also here to stay, and as long as m+ gives better rewards to reflect the higher difficulty, then its all good.

I don’t know that they’re necessarily “superior” to M+, the two systems offer quite different experiences. I’m sure there are people that enjoy the gameplay of M+, there are people pushing high keys.

But Delves are certainly great for people that the gameplay of M+ doesn’t appeal to, and I think that if Blizzard commit to them and continue to improve them, then they have the potential to be a really solid endgame pillar.

Blizzard killed M+ for players. This is the worst season I’ve ever played, this week is the most stressing one by far and I just tried to make 2 dungeons until now. I’m really feeling done with it, I truly truly wish they made Delves loot as good as M+ so I can have at least something to do in this game after clearing the raid.

Terrible season for M+. All Blizzard is doing this xpac is playing and tuning things around and for top players, it’s pathetic, annoying and mostly boring. Keep draining all the fun out of this game…

Yeah I’m having the worst time with pugging M+ it just isn’t fun, people just leave the moment things start going even slightly south even if the dungeon is already 70% complete it’s just so frustrating. Rather have the option of getting top tier rewards from delves even if the difficulty and scaling ends up being incredibly sweaty to overcome.

Yeah, you worded it better. I think Mythic+ will always be a solid endgame pillar, but I feel surprised how much I’ve come to enjoy Delves and just prefer doing them while ignoring Mythic+ entirely after awhile. I really had to ponder why, because I’ve typically always enjoyed Mythic+ even when not necessarily being rewarded from it. However, this season I’m just relieved to not have to step into it anymore, though I know not everyone is like me.

Delves on the other hand, I’ve been logging in and preferring to jump into them straight away. Idk why, but I think it has a lot to do with just how easy it is to form groups for them, the way that you can still continue if someone drops group or needs to go or whatever, and just the flexible more relaxing gameplay loop. It also gives some cool stuff like backpacks and whatnot, I got a backpack cosmetic the other day, along with a map for extra loot. Feels real nice.

I concur with the sweet spot myself, right now it’s delve week too.

I just do Delves now and avoid Mythic+. I’ll still do a Heroic for the weekly quest or I’ll raid in Timewalking weeks.

You will get less toxic groups if you push higher keys though but still, as long as the primarily game mode is rated + timed + competitive + hyped up as an e-sport it’s just gonna be blah and better off avoided (for me anyway)

Delves are a little boring to me now but I enjoy seeing the new tier 9 enemies. Just fought this ugly huge water bug in the Sinkhole delve that wasn’t there in 8s. It looked really cool and creepy.

Delves remind me of the OG dungeons. I can take my time and plan pulls. They are the superior game mode.

I agree, I think M+ will always have its audience, even if that audience isn’t a massive portion of the playerbase. But by that same token, how much of the playerbase clears Mythic raids when they’re current content? Only a small portion, but they’re still here.

I can’t speak to this season vs previous seasons as I ran a single M+ dungeon back in BfA and decided that the M+ life wasn’t for me - the “GoGoGo” competitive nature of it just doesn’t suit me.

That said, if a notable portion of the M+ playerbase that used to enjoy it now don’t, then I think Blizzard needs to address that. M+ isn’t for me, but it should be enjoyable for those it does suit.

I definitely think Delves could use a bit of work, but what we have is a solid foundation.

I’ve never been one to play specs or talent builds because they’re meta or optimal, I just pick whatever seems fun or useful to me. That can be an issue in meta and results focused systems like M+. Whereas with Delves I can play whatever spec I want and choose whatever talents I want, without it hampering my ability to engage with the content.

The more they’re refined, the more people will see them as a legitimate endgame pillar and alternative to raiding/M+.

“i love delves, but i think the reward is too good and needs to be nerfed” is the common sentiment on the forums.

Solo dungeons was always a nice jrpg experience growing. Delves is similar but it gots alot of stuff they can improve to make it more fun. I do hope they work on it. For example vanilla dungeons compared to today. Vanilla raids compared to today.

Hopefully they take some ideas from single player rpg games.

if delves gave no rewards at all - would you still do delves?

Idk how people enjoy delves.

The mobs do literally nothing. It’s like hitting a target dummy for 30 minutes and pretending you’re playing a game.

do you like the delves, or the chest at the end?

I mean one could say the same for Mythic+. Would people still force themselves through a strenuous timed event where a single wipe can result in defeat if it didn’t offer them better loot and rewards? I definitely feel Mythic+ can be argued to be less about fun, and more about getting the shiny loot in the chest at the end too.

Seems most people these days just want the KSM mounts or portals, compared to actually enjoying the season and their gameplay.

After playing with M+ in Legion and Shadowlands primarily I can say with all my heart that I’m done with M+ for good now that delves are here.

That’s the only endgame that matters to me now.

I love both sugar

m+ isn’t better though. Thats my problem
+8 delves give better loot until you reach 8 m+ which is silly to me lmao
m+ is not rewarding enough for the difficulty

This is probably why I like them much more. I don’t have to go 100mph.

If M+ didn’t give rewards, would you still do them?
