Even with 10% spell damage in shadowform holy priest shadow word pain tics harder than shadow priest shadow word pain. This is pathetic. This spec feels awful atm

I noticed this the other day. It’s a weird theme with them that isn’t unique to priests, either.
Resto shaman lava burst hit harder than elemental lava bursts.
Idk man nothing about their design choices make any sense to me anymore.

Shadow word pain increases all of your damage by mastery, generates insanity, etc. Global for global your pressing shadow word pain gives more value than for a holy priest, so it has different tuning.
Similar reason why holy does more damage than disc, because doesn’t get value from atonement.
As a design philosophy it makes sense to me, total spec power aside.
Member the days when swp a full row with procs up could do half ur hp total. Now it barely beats out passive rejen

This is just how Dps and their Healer counterparts work since healing specs don’t have systems to amp their few sources of damage.
rSham Lava Burst hits like 27% harder than Ele and procs twice as often
Ele earth shield heals for 63% more and raw healing surge heals for more
Same with Hpriest, they get a 112% amp to the base SW:P while Spriest gains a 50% amp
If you spec for it. U can do insane burst high sustain. But u become a mega glass cannon that only works in war sp. Rogue sp or double caster. Where fae is still better to play anyway.
