Holy Paladin Solo? SoM

I’ve already played Priest and Druid in PvP many times in Classic/Vanilla wow but I want to try Holy Paladin

Thing is, I play pretty much solo. I only do pug dungeons and I want to mainly just farm BGs.

How viable is this? I’ve heard it’s a pain to level and not sure how viable it is to heal BGs solo as a pally. Seems like it may be a class better suited to having a core group, but I’m not sure

I’d also want to heal some dungeons while leveling up and not sure how possible this is.

Any suggestions ? What spec to level as?

I leveled holy back in the day. Don’t do that. It’s miserable.

Level as Ret. You will regret leveling as holy unless you are in a group. You can easily switch to holy when you are 60.

I guess my main question is how is Holy Paladin in PvP as far as a solo healer goes? I found druid was really good for solo heal, priest was okay (you get trained a lot, not a lot of mobility)

Was wondering how Holy Paladin fairs in the BG scene as a pug healer.

I guess if you don’t care about the open world at all it could work. I’m not sure though, never tried it.

i’ve done holy 1-42 so far. switched to ret.

guess what? single mob kill times are the same. the dps is the same.

it’s not until much later with both talents and gear that the specs start to differentiate, so i went back to holy. consecrate is great and killing things 3 at a time is no sweat - no bubbles neaded. divine favor bb.

I levelled holy during phase 2, WoW Classic. It was fun.

Huh. You by chance enjoy having your fingernails pulled out? :yum:

Haha, I don’t think so, but I’ve never tried.

Phase 2 was a little unique, and on a very Horde heavy server, leveling as Holy was not a bad choice. I spent a lot of that leveling with a warlock friend, and when he wasn’t on, I’d go into a zone, and type in general, “Holy paladin starting this zone, looking for others to quest with.”

Having a group (with a healer) typically meant that we were able to fend off attackers, and leveling has never been so fun (for me at least).

Also, from around 42+, I was mostly grinding dungeons.

I quested solo from 1-70. Started Dec. 2006… That was not easy. I guess fun was had, as I’m still playing. I won’t do it again.

I don’t like solo questing. It seems that it can be more fun on some classes than others, but I tend to prefer Dungeon Leveling, and group play.

I dont either. Dont have any friends to play w/ but was considering going holy cuz I was hoping to PUG dungeons or just find a Warrior when i get to a new zone.

Honestly cant decide between a holy pally or aff warlock right now which makes no sense cuz they’re . . . . so different.

I have leveled three paladins as holy.

Solo: stick to green quests and use holy shock sparingly (once every 2-3 fights) and don’t use consecration. Fiery enchant (or the one from the Badlands drake quest) on your SM quest reward sword helps. Yellow+ quests are annoying for sure. It’s a pretty bad soloing spec but I just don’t like ret in classic.

Group: you will be an unstoppable healer. Flash of light is so efficient, especially while specced holy. Team up with a warrior = the ultimate lawnmower. Also, Spiritual Focus 5/5 + Concentration Aura helps you tank ridiculously huge pulls while DPS burns mobs down.

That’s hot.

I have to question this.

I did the same thing except I switched back to ret at 34… and I noticed significant increases in dps and a major reduction in down time (concentration is expensive mana wise and not really worth it unless it’s a vengeance proc)

For solo play.

With a rogue or warrior buddy - holy becomes amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love pallies, but aff lock is about 300% more fun.

Thing is I’ve max’d leveld a warlock so many times I’ve lost count. Never played Pally before in any xpac

But ya, aff lock is fun, thats why i’ve lvl’d one so many times

Oh, then absolutely roll a pallie. They’re tons of fun as well.

Take what people on these forums say with a grain of salt. I asked about leveling as holy during tbc and everyone said it was horrible but then when I tried it it was better in some ways then ret and prot and was a lot of fun. It’s almost as if most of the people commenting have never done it and and really don’t know.

That being said though holy is better for damage in many ways in tbc so it really may be horrible in vanilla, but give it a try and see what it’s like. If it really is so bad you can switch back.

DoT them up… Watch them die. It’s like poking animals with a stick.
