Cataclysm classic was abandoned even worse so than TBC classic. SoD and SoM. It is clear what version the classic developers prefer. Cata could have added great features like solo queue just like TBC could have had better features like dual spec. Instead, the developers abandoned the games for their poorly put together abominations known as SoD and SoM. Aggrend is living his male power fantasy on his ret paladin doing all the seal twisting he can get. Devs are too busy reveling in discord comments about how great the clunky, strange mess that SoD is. He’s written more paragraphs in obscure paladin discords about SoD in one day than his total public facing cataclysm comments.
It’s strange since cataclysm brings in more money with the token, services, and expansion packages. Cataclysm is full on coast mode, nothing will be added, game breaking bugs will make it live, and that will be Cataclysm the rest of the way. Devs have made up their minds.

Yeah, pretty much hit the nail on the head to be honest. Though, SoM was widely ignored by the playerbase after the launch. A lot of people saw that for what it was. SoD has captivated more folks - which is cool. But the developers have done Cataclysm pretty dirty. Cata will continue to outperform SoD though. Firelands will be more accesible than T11 and that will keep folks around longer. We can find some solace knowing that fact will annoy Developers like Aggrend that question why more people aren’t playing his private server abomination.

Although I do agree with you in terms that the classic team is clearly more interested in doing things with SOD and Classic +, and have left Cata to maintenance mode.
There is talks of adding things like dungeon + come firelands.

Yeah, the Classic team likes to lie. On the rare occasion they follow through it’s usually rushed with very little effort actually delivering on the hype.

While personally, I don’t think that Dual Spec belongs in older versions of the game, nor that it’s a particularly good feature (I think it’s a garbage feature personally, and I’m always surprised that anyone would point to it specifically and say, “That’s good.”), for some reason whenever they announced Cata Classic, I was under the impression that there would be a lot of differences between the original release and what we would get.
I thought there were going to be all sorts of innovations, and not just heroic+, more or less exactly what we had already had in Wrath Classic.
I don’t know where I got this idea from, but didn’t they actually say something in the announcements that suggested things like it would be a “Classic+” sort of iteration on top of Cata Classic, and that as you suggest, something like solo queues, etc. would be on the table?
Was there ever a post talking about why Cata didnt get the newest retail auction house like they promised?

It’s absolutely ridiculous how much time and effort is spent on SoD “Vanilla class balancing” while bug fixes and important things get overlooked.
It’s like a four year old that loves the sandbox and wants to spend all day building sandcastles. They love to talk to the other kids who also like building sandcastles. Meanwhile, they aren’t cleaning up their toys and they refuse to have baths or wash their hands or brush their teeth. Things can’t go this far because there’s a parent but there doesn’t seem to be any parent here.
Sure this is a small team dealing with a lot but that’s even more reason why all day shouldn’t be spent playing around in class discords, tweaking class things for SoD, sucking up to streamers, and doing nothing that’s actually productive.
Plus when Classic came out in 2019 how many people were like “Hey do you know what 95% of the devs time should be spent on? Making Vanilla classes better!!” Sure some people didn’t like how Vanilla classes were and some didn’t play it while waiting for TBC or Wrath or whatever but this NEVER should have been so much of the devs focus and it’s truly appalling how it now clearly is, Classic has been going downhill because of an immature desire to play and not work, flat out.

let’s be honest, we all knew this was going to happen the moment they decided to not implement the pre expansion event with the elemental invasions

The pinnacle of communication just hit on the PTR the other day… when they told the CM to announce that the PTR was over and that was all LMAO. Like 0 interaction between devs and community for feedback or questions…
It’s pathetic.

One of the best features ever added and insanely popular. If anything it should be like retail where you can do whatever you want with no cost at anytime.

thats why i dont like SOD , litreally dead game idk why they even bring that up they just make same mistakes back then when tbc they announce SOM
idk what they thinking people who not play retail back then really want to enjoy cata as much mop clasic in future but they just neglect and dont even care bout it
why blizzard , why you keep gettin worse managing your own player base and game

Well that isn’t Dual Spec. But anyway, that’s not the point of this thread or my post.
The:

Was more the point.

Classic pet for sale and great discounts on Cata perks. + wow token sales!
All this extra money will surely be funneled into at least the appearance of cata not being forgotten. Heck, maybe they can spend some on getting the appearance tab to reflect previously completed quests from vanilla/tbc/wotlk. It’s not like xmog was a major feature of this xpac or anything

I didnt play SoM but SoD is the least creative thing Blizzard has crapped out in the last 15 years. Copying abilties from other expansions and pasting them into vanilla as arbitrarily hidden “runes” is just about the most lazy, thoughtless thing they could possibly come up with. I cannot fathom how anyone is OK with SoD. Its the biggest recycled gimmick I’ve encountered in the gaming industry as a whole, period.

Maybe. I think they could have done much less though, too. Like released the game with no changes, but the same level/content gating.
That would have been lazier, and who knows, maybe just as popular.
I do think that what they have done is innovating though, and while I have long stopped playing SoD, and have muted the SoD forums, I’d be interested in what you would point to as changes you’d like to see, but more particularly with reference to Cata Classic as that is the topic of this thread and these forums.
Of course you do. That’s why you have 8.3k+ posts on a level 10. Eternal contrarian living in the forums.

The latest ptr build (4.4.1 56574) has spells for it.
Spell 470595: Alpha Empowered
Increases damage done by 17%, increases health by 80%.
Spell 470597: Defense Protocol Alpha.
Don’t see any spells for specific dungeons like the web wrap, mirror images, etc. WotLK had 6 different Alpha Empowered spells (Arcane, Plague, Shadow, Blood, Titan, and Frost Rune) instead of a single spell.
I’m sure they will recycle stuff from retail mythic +
We didn’t even get a post of why the pre-patch event was cut entirely. They didn’t even tell us it was going to be cut.

Remember when they tried telling you that you guys didn’t want classic wow, and once you got it you couldn’t stop complaining?
